seretonin symdrome perhaps?

by Sandy345, Apr 01, 2008 09:29PM
In 1980 I began taking diet pills, tenuate dospan, ionamin and sanorex, not at the same time but all within a 15 year period.  After taking them daily (yes, daily) I started feeling overstimulated and cut back to 1/4 doses with I used for the 15 year period. One day I got a violent headache and the next day did not take one, no headache.  The day after that I took one, got a violent headache and tried this on and off for a week.  I connected the dots and saw they were now giving me violent headaches after all these years so I stopped them immediately.  Through an unfortunate turn of life events about 4 months later I lost my mother.  My father passed away 1 year prior to that and since I had no siblings, husband or kids of my own it seemed any support system I had was lost.  I then got depressed so I asked to be put on an SSRI.  I tried PAxil but it gave me vicious migraines with visual auras and auditory hallucinations.  This was at one pill per day.  I then tried Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor but these made me so sleepy I had difficulty holding onto a very important job that I didn't want to lose. So a year later I went back to the Paxil on 1/4 of a pill per day.  This produced no migraines at this dose.  During this time if I felt tired from overwork or double shifts I would add in a sanorex to give me extra energy (maybe I should not have done this).  AFter a year the paxil started giving me violent headaches and since it was so long after I did not make the connection right away.  I kept taking it with aspirain or tylenol or ibuprofen, etc. but figured out after a month that the Paxil was doing it.  I stopped the Paxil but the headache now remained at a 3 out of 10.  I would have thought to leave it alone but my doctor insisted she would try to 'blow it out of the water' by giving me different analegics that either did nothing or else made the headache worse, where it would go up to a 10 out of 10, then with no other medication tried.....back down to a 3 out of 10 where it stayed.  This went on for 3 months.  By this point I was taking only small doses of any medication I'd be prescribed and it would do this.  I then got sent to a specialist who prescribed tegretol and told me to take the whole thing.  I did.  Since that day my head pain has been way up past a 10 out of 10 and I've been living in agony.  What happened???Does anyone know and if you do could you please pass it on to me.  Thank you very much.
