should I be wworried?

Hi! I've been getting migraines since i was 13 or even before that. I got them once a month but now i get them every day. I tried some medication prescribed by doctors but non of them worked. The only thing that works  is coofee in the morining and exedrine whenever i feel the aura. however, it doesn't really always work until i take more than 3 pills. I also noticed that my visison is worst on the left eye than the right eye. I have been experiencing back pain, not exaclty my back but around my left shoulder. The pain gets worst whenever i sit in a same position for more than 20 minutes or when i walk for  along time. The last time i visited my otometrist,  I had to take a glaucoma test becase she said my (don't remember the name) was larger than usual.  I also have left side migraines, which before getting migraines the left side of my face becomes numb. I recently started  experiencing weird pain on the back of my head, near my neck that stays for 30 seconds and fades away. Is it normal for peopel that have migraines?

Yes it is common to get migraines after birth control pills. In some women with preexisting migraines can get worse. I would suggest you to discuss other birth control options with your OBGYN since birth control pills are causing severe migraines.

I didn't have any migraines i started taking the pills, even if I did , they weren't that bad and went away as soon as I took exedrine.  but the last week has been terrible!! SHould dI continue to the next month pack?

I am also on Yaz now and of course I still get migraines, maybee they are even worst. Should I Stop taking them?

Hi,

Seglor contains ergotamine and was widely used for controlling migraines. Nowadays better options are available like triptans eg. Imitrex. I would suggest you also to try out magnesium supplements which have been known to benefit patients with chronic migraine. Other alternate therapies like acupressure and biofeedback therapy also show a good response.

Thnaks for answering. I was prescribed two different medication, which were both french. The first one is called seglor and I totally forgot the other one's name. They both didn't really work, they made me feel horrible. Right now i'm taking exedrine

Short lasting headaches which are severe and stabbing are known as Ice pick headaches which are seen in patients with migraine.

What medications are you currently taking? Topamax has been found very useful in breaking the migraine cycle. Any migraine headache which lasts for more than 72 hrs is known as status migrainosus. It is very important to break the migraine cycle.

Have you been able to identify a trigger for your migraine? I would suggest you to consult a neurologist because any headache which lasts for more than a few days needs to be evaluated further.
