Have you taken your son to see a dr? Sounds to me like he may have irritated something during a workout, might need to be adjusted by a chiropractor.Does he get sick to his stomach and sensitive to light with these headaches?
My son started getting really bad headaches when he was 12. I have had migraines every since I can remember, so I was concerned for him. I took him to dr, they diagnosed him with cluster migraines. Dr.said that hormone levels go up and down so fast during these teenage years that they can cause migraines. Luckily my son hasn't had one in over a year now. You may want to get him x rayed and treated by a chiropractor if he needs adjusted. If it isn't that, then there are meds they can give to help with the headache. Best of Luck to you and your son.
Hi
It is difficult to comment on the cause for headache without actually examining the patient. However you may find the following information useful.
There can be several causes for headaches like injury, stress, eye strain, withdrawal from caffeine; migraine, tension headaches and cluster headaches (which are not associated with any other diseases), high blood pressure, brain tumors, strokes, meningitis and several other neurological conditions.
The exact diagnosis would depend on a detailed history with respect to the exact site, duration, time of the day, intensity, any associated symptoms like nausea, vomiting, visual loss, any neurological symptoms along with your past medical history. Your son should consult a doctor for proper diagnosis of the headache. Various tests such as blood tests, CT scan, MRI or lumbar puncture are usually necessary to establish a diagnosis.
Take care!
