What causes Migraines?

I've been having Migraines everyday now and I don't know what causes the migraines? I drink like 1 -2 cups of coffee a day and I'm on the depo provera shot and recently had a baby 3 months ago.  I 've never had migrianes like these ones. Should I tell my doctor before i know the causes the migaines or after?

Thank You for your comment and Yes I will go see my doctor and I recently put on the migraine tracker to keep track of my migraines. Also after i got the depo provea shot I got the massive migraines and that could be the cause of it but it also could not be the cause. As soon as I go to my doctor and get answers I'll let you know. Thank you again and good luck!

If you haven't visited a doctor for the headache, do it. The doctor maybe able to find out what is causing headaches in your case.

If no cause can be found, it is labeled as 'primary headache' One such primary headache is "migraine' of which (generally agreed upon) there are two types, one with aura and the other without aura.

Provera is Medroxy-progesterone ( a female hormone) and your doctor has given it for some reasons. You already had a baby 3 mth back. Is the headache after your Depot-Provera? Provera can cause headache as a side effect, pls check with your doctor so that he can come to the right conclusions. We can only do guesswork :-).

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
I would suggest you to maintain a headache diary to identify a trigger for your migraines. There are many triggers for migraine like caffeine, processed meats, aged cheese, artificial sweeteners and MSG along with stress, bright lights and loud noise.
Make sure you eat healthy and fresh foods, drink plenty of water, exercise daily and sleep as much as you can during the day if your baby keeps you up in the night.
You can also check with your doctor about magnesium supplements as they have been known to help prevent migraines.
Hope this helps!

Hi....there r so many causes of head achces...were u dx'd with migraines.

Blood sugars....too much caffine.....stress....hormones......inbalance of vitamins and or minerals.....all can trigger a migraine.

There r many conditions that result in a headache...not all considered migraines, but the feeling is the same.

Deff tell ur dr of ne condition that lasts more then 3 days.I do not know to much about the depo provera shot and how that along with ur caffine intake and the fact u have a new baby...WOW....how all that can play into this.

Call ur dr and let us know how it goes.

Good luck
