I have had a constant headache since at least February of 2014. I have tried not smoking, I've tried using just Vape smokers. I don't use drugs, and I do have high blood pressure but am taking amlodipine regularly for that. I have no pain during the night while sleeping. I can cough and I recognize not having a headache when I do so. Day time is different all together, almost from the time I wake up, I have a dull headache, and when I cough or sneeze, the right top front feels like its splitting wide open.
thank you for the welcome, and for your response! I am seeing my specialist today and will keep u posted! I see that most of the member's on here are women, I am a 49 yr old man and was just diagnosed with this after a cluster cycle! :( So I guess these headaches have no sex! :)
thanks again

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, Indomethacin is the drug of choice in hemicranias continua. In fact the diagnosis is considered confirmend if a patient responds to Indomethacin. This is the reason your specialist has you on this. This is a primary headache disorder in that it has no cause.
Hope this helps. Take care!
i see in your post that u mentioned hemicranias continua !
I was recently diagnosed with this from a migraine/headache specialist! I recently ended a "cluster cycle" which turned into daily headaches! My cluster headaches are very different! All the same a chronic daily headache is bad enough! Now that i have this diagnosis I need to find out a bit of a different strategy! I am currently on verapamil since my cluster cycle started back at christmas and my specialist has me on indomethacin 25mg 2 3 x's a day! hopeing this helps only been a couple of weeks since the diagnosis so we will see! i see the specialist tomorrow will keep u posted! Any input would be greatly appreciated!
thanks again hope all are well!!

It has been quite awhile since I've posted anything. I'm still having daily headaches that constantly fluctuate all day long. I've been diagnosed with occipital headaches, cervicogenic headaches, and migraine type 1 headaches. I have the classic migraine symptoms of visual disturbances, light and smell sensitivity, nausea, and upset stomach. I have multiple back problems along with fibromyalgia that kind of make a bad situation worse. I've seen multiple doctors such as neurologists, back and pain centers, headache clinics(inpatient and outpatient), rheumotologists, pain management, sports medicine and rehab, and neurosurgeons with little success. Currently, I'm seeking a second opinion with another neurosurgeon for possible surgery for a discectomy and fusion at C4/5 and C5/6. He would remove my current plate at C6/7 from a prior surgery 18 months ago. I've had MRI's, discograms (provacative and anaesthetic), myelograms, xrays, and EMG's. He can't guarantee that those discs are exclusively the source of the headaches. He said that surgery can be a gamble but at this point, I have nothing to lose. I have had these headaches for 23 months and counting. If there is at least a 50% chance or more of success, it will be well worth the surgery. My insurance won't cover disc decompressions or spinal cord stimulators for a variety of reasons. I've been fighting with them for 10 months with my headaches being documented at every visit even if the doctor visits are for other spine levels.
How long have you been suffering from headaches. I feel that I've exhausted every avenue for solutions.
hi, just wondering how your headaches are going
Can't help you with your headaches, but wanted to say "Hi". I also live in Calumet. Well, actually Traprock.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Since you have a headache almost daily, what you have is in all probability not a simple migraine but a chronic daily headache (CDH). This can be the primary type—without any cause. If the headache lasts for less than 4 hours then it could be a chronic cluster headache or a chronic paroxysmal hemicranias. If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua.
The CDH could also be secondary to trauma, raised intracranial hypertension, high blood pressure, cervical disorders like pinched nerves, temporal arteritis etc.
At your age of 42 you should also consult a gynecologist and rule out hormone imbalance and low estrogen as the cause of your headaches.
Hence apart from medicines it is important to rule out various causes of headaches. You should consult a migraine and headache specialist.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
sounds like you have status migrainosis or Chronic Daily Headache or something like that. You say you've seen neurologists, what have they said about your headaches? Also, have you looked into seeing a cardiologist to see if you have a PFO? That might be another thing to look into at elast.
I've had a constant migraine for the past 8 years since I got status migrainosis. I'm on ten different meds daily, 9 of which are to stabilize the migraines so that I can function, but I'm still a 6/10 or higher every day.
If you want to talk/rant, send me a message.
stay strong
