tia or complicated Migraine

Last week I was on a cruise shopping in the gift store and all of a sudden I didn't know where I was, or couldn't read anything on the store poster that listed the Ports.  I was very confused and it lasted for about an hour.  I was taken down to the doctor's quarters where they diagnosed me with a  TIA. I had now symptoms of headaches, numbness etc.  Just rapid hearthbeat and high blook Pressure which is normally low.   It was very scarey.  This has never happened to me before.  THe next day I had a migraine headache.  Do you think this was indeed a TIA?  I am 63 yrs old.  I was prefectly find for the rest of the cruise.

Hi,
How are you? The symptoms and signs of a TIA usually resolve after a few hours. However, diagnostic tests such as ECG, head CT scan or brain MRI may help rule out stroke, which may present with the same symptoms. Normally, these tests are normal. Other diagnostic tests to check high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, and other causes of and risk factors for TIAs or stroke may also be done. If you have history of migraine headaches, you need to check with your neurologist also to determine if hemiplegic migraine is present. This type of migraine also present with numbness and confusion. Take care and do keep us posted.
