My GP is better than anyone for helping me with my migraines.  Now I am also scheduled to see a Neuro that specializes in migraine in a month.  So we will see how that goes.

Like brainpain, I drive an hour also to see both the GP and Neuro.
And I would love to try Acupuncture again, I did this years ago and loved the results.

Now with so many health problems, I don't have the patience for a Dr that doesn't help me.

i had struggled for years with my migraines. i have seen my family doctor and never got anywhere. my family doc would tell me to live with it and if i needed to go to the er.i had a migraine so bad i lost my vision for a min and gave my doc the boot. i have been seeing a headache spealist for almost a year. i have fewer headaches and have the meds to treat even my cluster migraines. i have to drive 60 miles round trip but its worth every mile.

I wasn't sure what to vote as. I've seen a neurologist for over 10 years, but I've also been seeing a psychiatrist who works with my neuro. Then my neurologist and psychiatrist together recommended that I see an acupuncturist, so I've been doing that lately, and it seems to be helping in collaboration with my western medical treatments.

Well, officially my migraine doctor is my neurologist. And, he is the specialist and my GP usually will listen to all of his advice and so do I. But, the doctor that I see the MOST often about my headaches is my GP... just because I can actually see him more often and he has a "come in to see me when ever you need to" sort of policy whereas the specialists here sort of have a system going where they prescribe you something and tell you when to come back unless there is an emergency or something funny happens like "okay, now, you phone me right away if you lose your eye sight when you start taking this new medication, okay?" that sort of thing... but, for the most part, i see my neurologist ever 2 months at the moment and my GP every 2 weeks.... and it's almost always about migraines! Although, actually, my current neurologist is amazing and I feel like if I needed to I could probably get an appointment earlier than our next agreed upon appointment if I needed to... I haven't really felt that way in the past about other neurologists before, but this guy is pretty great.
