11 weeks after 2nd trimester miscarriage, no period

Hi, I had a miscarriage at 18 weeks pregnant on July 23rd, 2009. It has been 11 weeks since then, and no period.  I took 2 pregnancy tests last week both came back positive, so i called the doctor.  Of course they sent me for blood work. I went on wednesday and got the results back today, friday.  They said the levels were are below 2, so thats a negative on the pregnancy.  do you think i had HCG left in my system from the miscarriage or am i really pregnant and early on??

Thanks the doc seemed to think that it was pretty rare to have any hcg left in my system.  But i have to say i believe the blood test but if i dont start by thursday which will be 12 weeks i am going to take another test.  I hate being in this waiting stage, i wish i could jsut start my period so it can be done and ready to start over... i am sure you know what i mean.  I am so sorry for your loss as well.  We dont know the reason for the miscarriage yet, but it was difficult the whole time.  But he was moving around just fine the day of and at midnight i went into labor.  Anyway thanks for the advice.

I think so those can take a while to get out of your system. Just wait a little longer and take another test before you go back to the doctor, you can get a second opinion. I am sorry for your loss, I had my miscarriage 4 months ago at 14 weeks, I am not trying again yet but it was the opposite for me, my period would not go away after the miscarriage and not the last twice as long as they used to before I was pregnant. Keep in contact with your doctor. Best of luck to you and God bless you
