14 weeks pregant and no Ameonitic fluid

14 weeks pregant and no Ameonitic fluid

My wife is 14 weeks pregnant and her waters broke a couple of days ago, she went for a scan and the baby is fine but there is no fluid(ameonitic fluid) around the baby. The doctors think there is a little possibility the membrane could heal on its own and rebuild the fluid, my question is this possible and are there any dangers to the mother? The doctors reckon the chances of the baby making are almost next to zero but there has been cases before of pregnancies that went the full term to result in health babies. is anyone out there familiar with such any advise is welcome

I'm so sorry that you and your wife are having to go through this.  This is way over my scope of knowledge and I haven't seen any posts quite like this since the few months I've been here.  I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help, but just wanted to let you know that you and your wife will be in my prayers.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I can't even begin to imagine. I have no idea about how to help. I think there is a forum that you can ask dr's maybe they can help. This is a great forum all the people on here are very supportive and willing to share personal stories I hope someone on here may have some knowledge of this type of situation, Best wishes to you and your family I hope it all works out for you all! Take care and if you need to vent I'm here!

wow, I am so sorry for what you and your wife are going through.  I really do not have any sort of answer, but I would try to google the situation.  I had a fetus where at first the drs were not sure of the chances, but was able to find out alot more about my particular circumstance by doing so.  I really wish you both the best, and please do not hesistate if you or your wife need to just talk.  If anything, the ladies here have all been through heartache and can offer some sort of support.

I'm so sorry that you and your wife are going through this...I know that I have seen later in pregnancies where they infuse the uterus with saline to keep the baby safe. I'm not sure that I have seen it so early in a pregnancy. I definatly would not give up hope...Miracles do happen and maybe the tear will heal on it's own. Like Dani said, we are all here for both you and your wife if you need anything....Let us know what happens. You, your wife, and your baby will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am a NICU RN and have seen both positive and negative outcomes from early ruptured membranes.  The biggest problem with rupturing this early is the lungs need the amniotic fluid to develop properly.  As long as no infection occurs, the pregnancy could go on to viability but without fluid the baby's lungs wouldn't be developed like they should be and the baby would have extreme difficulties breathing (ie. need to be on a ventilator).  If the fluid re-accumulates(I'm unsure of how often this happens) the baby has a better chance.  I am so sorry you are going through this.  I ruptured at 17 1/7 weeks but the Dr's felt I already had an infection present from incompetent cervix/bulging bag of waters that they had to induce my labor.  I will pray for re-accumulation!  Good luck and feel free to ask any questions.

well my water broke at 18 weeks.  heres what I was told.  with no water around the abby two things happen limb deformities and poor lung development.   2nd an infection for mother and baby.  The chance of this continuing at 14 weeks is minimal..  yes it can happen so I will pray for a miracle but I would expect the pregnancy to end..  It's so hard to amke that decision..  I'm sorry
