Did your doctor check you to make sure your hcg went back down to zero?..if not you might not have passed everything??? I definately think you should get a check up. My periods are more painful since my miscarriage but just on the 1st day, but I imagine it effects everyone differently. But you should definately go for a check up especially since you had an infection previously.
I'm sorry for your loss. I agree with anxious you def need to get in and see your dr. As for pains on your side it could be another infection or an ovarian cyst. It is very common to have cysts during ovualation and during your period which usually dissolve on their own however with all of the complications you have had your body may not be working at 100%. I wish you the best and hopefully you feel better soon.
I am sorry to hear your loss. I have had 3 miscarriages 8 weeks, 6 weeks, and one chemical. I too had all my miscarriages at home, natural, no intervention.
My first pregnancy loss I had slight spotting at 8 weeks, ultrasound at 9 weeks that measured the baby at 6 weeks and I started miscarrying at 10 weeks. So it may take several weeks to miscarry after the fetus stops developing.
A loss as 5 weeks should result in passing clots as well as blood. Sounds like you has some retained tissue from your pregnancy.
It is a good idea to take a home pregnancy test after bleeding stops. Your body will still produce HCG if there is tissue retained. If your test is negative, you can assume everything has expelled.
Also, its a good idea to get an ultrasound for follow up after.
I am sure you will recover fine and go on to have successful pregnancy.
But you should not be having pains 5 weeks after miscarriage.
Make sure you get that checked!
I know how heart breaking miscarriage can be and scary to try again after.
Good luck to you.
