Abnormal Period Following Miscarriage

I had a natural miscarriage 3 months ago (Nov. 12).  The baby stopped developing during week 7 while the placenta kept growing; I miscarried at 12 weeks 5 days.  It was a long wait but I never showed any signs of infection.  Six weeks after the miscarriage my hcg level returned to 0 and my period came.  The period was a lot longer and darker/more brown than usual with a few very tiny clots.  I read that this was a normal experience and didn't worry too much about it.  I've just started my period again; there are more clots present during this cycle than the one that immediately followed the miscarriage.  The clots are larger (pea to dime sized), the flow seems to be a bit heavier and much much brighter in color.  Is this normal or a cause for concern?  Any ideas on what the body might/should be going through at this stage?

Hoping things are okay,
jenn

I am sorry for your loss. I had a d&c on Nov 13th and my AF came on Dec13th. It was the same kind of period as it used to be. Perhaps b/c I had a d&c and it wasn't a lengthly miscarriage. I think that having a natural m/c has very different side effects than having a d&c. We tried again after that AF and became pregnant and just recently suffered a chemical pregnancy. Even after bleeding heavier than normal, there were no clots and I just had an u/s done today and they did not see anything left over.

I'm sorry for your loss. It takes a long time for some women's cycles to go back to normal after a m/c. Mine are still heavier and more painful almost 6 months later. If you are worried you should call your dr. and see what the nurse says. Everything's probably okay but it couldn't hurt to ask.
