Any chance this pregnancy is viable?

I had my second u/s today, and I am worried.  We did IVF and so we know when everything happened.  I should be 7 weeks, 1 day today, but we measured just 3.2 mm (they called this 5 weeks, 6 days),  So we are 9 days behind.  I know there is some room for error on the measurement and some possibility of late implantation, but is there any chance this pregnancy will be viable?  They could see the heart flutter, but weren't able to get a reading on its speed.  She basically said we had pretty normal results for 6 weeks but not for 7 weeks.  If it were a normal pregnancy, I think they would assume our timing was wrong and everything was fine.  But they know when conception happened and when the transfer happened, and they seem pretty worried.  While they said of course they would nevert recommend any kind of action while there was still a heartbeat, they gently brought up the possibility of an eventual D&C.  I am to go back in a week.  The first u/s was at 6 weeks, 2 days,  they could see the gestational sac and the yolk sac but couldn't see the embryo.  They weren't TOO worried then, but they are now.  Both ultrasounds were transvaginal.

My news is not good.  My little bean hadn't grown at all in the last week, and there was no longer a heartbeat.  Thanks for all your good wishes tho.  I'm not sure why it didn't stick, but they said it probably wasn't healthy.

Best of luck to you!  That sounds very promising about your numbers going up.  DH and I are considering our first IUI soon and SIL has a beautiful baby girl through IVF.  After you have put so much time and effort just to get the bean, I can't imagine how stressful it is to know if it will stick.  You will be in my prayers.  Keep us updated, we love to hear success stories.

Yay. Congrats that sounds like great news to me. Like I have been doing from day one just take your pg day by day and for the day enjoy being pg. Try not to overwhelm yourself with uncertainty and fear. Best wishes to you...Please let me know what you find out tomorrow I will be thinking about you!

Hugs,

Thanks for your comments - you guys are very nice!  My hcg got a bit of a slow start, but then it more than doubled in two days and more than tripled in the next 3.  The slow start makes me feel better, but it wasn't really slow enough to justify being 9 days behind.  I go for my 3rd u/s tomorrow.  I still haven't had any cramps or spotting and I do have fatigue, some nausea and I am a bottomless pit of hunger.  So I am hoping for the best, but I am still scared to death.  I will update tomorrow.

I don't know much about Ivf. I do know with pg anything can happen. Fluke things happen everyday. You may only be 5 wks. I don't want to undermine your dr's or give you false hope but with all of the things I have gone through with my pgs and some of the women on here you just never know. I would ask to have another u/s and get your blood tested every 3 days..Best wishes to you and let me know what happens....

I'm so sorry that you are going through this.  Are they checking your HCG levels at all?  I don't really have any knowledge of your situation, but I would think that late implantation is a possibility.

This is a wonderfully supportive forum.  Please let us know what happens.  I wish you the best of luck.
