Thank you for your support. I'm starting ton wonder myself, through my OB and a hospital vist recently, I've had a lot of tests done. Blood work, ultrasounds, ct scans and nothing out of the ordinary. It truely makes me wonder if it really was "bad luck" being that I have a perfectly healthy 2 year old.
I hope they come up with some answers. I am in the same boat as you. I had 5 in a row, and was also referred to an RE (I'm in Calgary). I actually got in fairly quickly. Unfortunately the testing showed nothing out of the ordinary, but I can tell you that for me, 6th pregnancy was the charm and it stuck. Still don't know what happened previously, but it did work out in the end. I wish you well. I know how frustrating and painful this is.
So, if anyone is following this still, I have finally found and RE in my area. They have a long waiting list. Won't be seen til mid 2012 that's free health care for ya. Here's to hoping we figure something out.
Hi I have just had my 3rd miscarriage and am
Now being referred to a professor who specialises in recurrent mc. I have reviewed all websites tried aspirin for blood clotting this did not work but know this professor looks at immune systems and nk cells and recommends steroids in 1st trim. I live in uk and I get this on nhs or could pay to go private but cannot afford too. This is my last hope as am 41 it's tough going but somehow I am still surviving. Hope all goes well for you. Look on google at professor quenby and see her work I'm keeping positive about this now
okay another word other than s u c k s. that always makes me upset when you forget.
glad to hear you have a little one too! i know having my son around really helped me deal with my losses. i had a really great vag birth, quick and neat. doc even commented that it was a text book delivery.
my miscarriages have been different. i thought i was 12 weeks and baby was only 7 weeks and the second one i thought i was 13 weeks and there was only a sac there. so that has been difficult.
let me know what your obgyn says, if you dont mind. kinda curious cause we both seem to be able to get pregnant, just can't seem to keep it going strongly though. i really hope your appointment goes well and you leave feeling like the doctor really cares about you and your difficulties.
hope you think of more questions to ask. its always nice when you can write them down. i hate leaving and going 'ohhh i forgot to ask about ...." that always *****.
Yep, I also have a 2 year old son. All my miscarriages seem to be the same in between 5-7 week and hCG levels not going up as they should. Did you have a c section or a vag birth? I had a c section with no complications.
hey amy, i'm in canada too.
do you have a child already? and what kinds of miscarriages have you had? i have a son who is two and we're working on number 2. and so far i have had two miscarriages but two different ways. doc says if we can't keep number 4 pregnancy he'll send us to a specialist then. he's gonna be more proactive in this next pregnancy though so that is reassuring. so if you're having the same thing happen four times it might be easier for the obgyn to help you. questions i had for the doctor were about what to expect in the future and what the game plan would be for the next pregnancy. we talked about hormones and their part of things. i also talked about a sooner ultrasound to check on things. most of the people saw throughout my d and c's told me since i have my son that we know i can have a full term baby so to not give up. but you can obviously get pregnant, its just a matter of making it stick. my doctor is gonna give me some progesterone when i get pregnant again and hopefully that helps. perhaps the obgyn will do something similar to help things. good luck with your visit and i hope your obgyn is very help and helps you feel more in charge of the next pregnancy. hope you think of more questions that will help ease your mind.
I'm in Canada so everything is covered by the gov't. Also, RE's are few and far between and I don't want to be on an extremely long waiting list when it could be something simple an OB can find.
Also, the reproductive endocrinologist is covered at the same rate an OB is for insurance purposes.
Ask for a referral to a reproductive endrocrinologist. They will do everything your OB will do and more. AND they are accustomed to getting people pregnant and keeping them pregnant through the first trimester whereas OBs are for the latter part of pregnancy and delivery. Your OB will offer you an HSG (dye test) to check out the shape of your uterus and tubes, but have the re do it because the re does many more of them and knows how to do it without causing lots of pain.
