Bleeding

Any help would be great. I was sixteen weeks pregnant and went in to the ER with a headache, they did an ultrasound and baby had no heartbeat. They admitted me and induced labor and baby was born. However the placenta was detatched and would not come out. So they took me into surgery for a d and c. This was almost a month ago. I have had really really heavy bleeding with huge clots. It had finally tapered off about a week ago, but today it started again and I passed a really large clot-like thing but it was flesh colored with some blood. I am still having some pelvic pain but no cramping anymore. Do I need to go back in? It really freaked me out. Thank you,.

I am so sorry for what you are going through right now.  I passed some pretty big clots after a d&c.  They got around the size of a golf ball and I freaked and called the doctor.  They said if it continued that big or if it got bigger than a golf ball to call back.  For me, it tapered off and I continued passing quarter sized clots.

I would definitely check with your doctor.  You want to be safe, not sorry.  I'm sure everything is fine.  But at least a phone call is within reason.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my son at almost 5 months and was able to deliver the placenta, no d&c needed. I never passed any clots bigger than a quarter. I agree with Ready, I would contact you Dr. to see if this is something you should be concerned about.

Hi...sorry to hear about your lost. How big was the clot? I recently lost my baby at 22 weeks and they advised me if I had a clot bigger than a lemon I needed to come back to the hospital. I would still contact my doctor if I were you.
