I have been on birth control (the pill) since 2013, and it has worked extremely well for me. My cycle has always come on a scheduled basis, down to the time. Tuesday to Thursday. I had stopped my birth control for a month, I'd been at school away from home and couldn't pick up my prescription. So by the time my next menstrual period was supposed to begin, I instead started a new pack of birth control so I wouldn't have to have my cycle this month. However, the Sunday after I began my new pack (the first day of the second week) I had noticed the symptoms I regularly get for my period, cramping and bleeding. So I thought it came early and didn't think much of it.
However by the time the third day came and went I began to worry more because my period hadn't left. If anything, it has gotten heavier, and the cramping has become a lot worse. I usually only bleed(relatively light) for 3 days, and cramp for 1, sometimes 2. This is day 7, going on 8 and I have bled through super tampons, which I never have used before this. I normally only have to use light, and I'll still have half a box left for the next cycle. However this time I've been scrambling just to find tampons/pads.
I've also noticed the color of the blood is often times very dark or brown. There has been some clots passing through but I didn't start paying attention until day 5. My hormones are also off balance, my sex drive is at an all time low when normally that is the exact opposite(and upsetting for my boyfriend and I haha).
Could this have been a chemical pregnancy/miscarriage or just a very off period? HELP!!! I'm highly considering going to the hospital tomorrow if it persists. Any insight/advice/tips? Thank you!!
