EXTREMELY low fetal heart rate

EXTREMELY low fetal heart rate

I started bleeding about 2 weeks after learning I was pregnant (by hpt).  When I went to the ER, went through the battery of tests, including a pelvic exam, transabdominal u/s, transvaginal u/s, and blood work, the doctors seemed reluctant to tell me what I feel is inevitable, that I will miscarry.  I was positive about the date of my LMP, and the embryo measures almost 2 weeks smaller.  I have had light bleeding and very light cramping/low backache for 4 days now, and noticed increasing tissue like substance and very small clots (she said she saw no tissue during exam???).  My hcg levels are on the low side of normal, but I can't know if they are decreasing until I return in 2 days to re-check.  The most disturbing news, there is a fetal heart beat, but it is 45bpm.  I have never mc'd, and had to look up all of this info to find the answers I waslooking for.  I found studies on low fetal hr, read countless stories, but in none that I saw did any have a hr that low.  Are the ER docs not qualified to explain that I will miscarry, do they not see this because they don't have the experience of an OB,and really are not sure.  If anyone has any more info about this type of situation, would you please share with me?  I have already come to terms, I suppose, that a woman's intuition is too powerful...  Thanks so much for any replies to this long, long post!

I'm so sorry for your situation. Every woman's pg is different. Try to remember that when you are reading about your situation. I have had 6 m/cs and I have 4 children. I'm always going back for repeat u/s's and blood work due to low rising hcg levels etc. I would def give your dr a call and have some follow up bloodwork done and req a u/s depending on how far along you are it may be too soon to see the baby. I wish I could tell you more. I don't want to fill you with false hope but I don't think it's over until your dr tells you it is. Threatened doesn't mean the pg has ended it means it is looking that way but it can always have a different outcome. I can't give you medical advice but I can certainly remain optomistic and be a support system for you while you play the waiting game! Best wishes to you and your baby. Please keep me posted.
