HCG Levels and Miscarriage

I need an answar, I recently found out I was pregnant.I had a bunch of blood work testing my HCG levels the 1st one was 342, 2nd 428 then my 3rd was 410 and the last one was 390(Jan19th/09), and I was told that I have had a miscarriage.
Now previous to find out that I was preg. I had to go to the emerg. due to bad pain in my kidney area, felt like cramping just on the one side,as well as bleeding for 2wks,now the bleeding stopped around the same time that my HCG levels were at 442.I also had a couple u/s but wasn;t able to see anything,they said I may have been too early.
So my question is have I had a miscarriage or am I going to have one? can your levels rise after miscarriage? My period is due anytime from the 18th-23th will it happen then?

I am so sorry for your loss. To answer your question, AF is "Aunt Flow" (your period). If you go to the bottom of the page here, on the right hand side there's a column labeled Most Viewed Health Pages. If you click on Common Pregnancy Related Acronyms & Abbreviations, you will find a ton of abbreviations that we use on here. It's hard to keep up with all of them sometimes. As for ttc after m/c, I feel that it's a very personal decision. Did the Dr. tell you how long he/she wanted you to wait? I was told to wait 1 cycle before ttc again. It does vary from Dr. to Dr. though. Most women on here have been told to wait between 1-3 cycles. It sounds like you may have already had the m/c although I can't explain the rising HCG levels after the bleeding. All I can say is continue to monitor your HCG levels til they get down to 0. And if you're not sure of what's going on, get the Dr to explain what's going on better. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Hey thanks so much , I never relized just how reassuring it is to read peoples opinion. I am suppose to go back once a week for blood work to ensure that they do go back to 0.One question, what is AF? I seen it abit on this site.
And I was also wondering how soon after this m/c thin can I or should get preg. again?
and back to my other post I was wondering what you guys think,do you think that the m/c as already taken place (when I went to the hospit.)or could it still be "on its way"?the only reason for asking is  because my levels did slightly rise there, after I stopped bleeding and since they have been dropping I have'nt bled at all so I did'nt know if that happens somtimes after the m/c or what.
I know its very confusing.

I know what you mean...I have 3 beautiful children and a m/c was the last thing in the world I thought would ever happen to me. What mikaleen said is true though, you really should go back and have your levels checked again. If it went in that order then there might be something wrong like she said. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry you have to go through this, not knowing what's going to happen.  Is your Dr. still following your levels?  There won't be anything to see with levels that low, a sac isn't expected to be seen until levels are at 1500.  I would think they would want to make sure that your levels went to zero, because if it is indeed a m/c, and levels continued to fluctuate, it could indicate some retained tissue.  Low fluctuating levels could also be indicative of ectopic.  With the pain that you had I would expect the Dr to follow your levels down to pre-pregnancy levels also.  I hope that your Dr. is following you, and I'm sorry that things don't look so good.  I know how that feels, I have been there.  Good luck.

Hey steph, thanks for the reply.On Jan.9 my HCG levels were 342,(here's were I stopped bleeding) Jan.12 it went up to 428,I can't remember what the date was but then a few days they droped to 410 then Jan.19 my last reading was 390 I started bleeding on Dec.24 and stopped approx Jan10th.So i did bleed for 2wks, but in the middle of that my HCG levels did rise slightly.Also reminder I went to the hospital Jan6th w/ that weird pain. So it is confusing to me as I have had 3 perfect preg's with a set a twins in there and this is my first m/c.

When was your last AF? I had a missed m/c where the baby dies but your body still goes on like it is pregnant for some time. I was 9w3d, but my baby had died at 5 weeks. When were your levels 442...was it after the others? If you are m/c'ing there really is no way to know when it is going to happen. You will be in my thoughts....
