HCG levels

by holly_b, Jul 15, 2008 03:21PM
Does anyone know how long it takes HCG levels to drop to normal after a natural miscarriage. (I miscarried at about 4 or 5 weeks) Thanks to anyone that responds.

i'm going thru the same wait right now.. my RE says anywhere from 2 weeks to 6-8 weeks. ugh!!! one week after the biggest part of my mc my levels were 289.. but we were 9.5 weeks along at the time of the mc.. not sure if that matters! good luck!

i had a missed m/c june 12th i was 10weeks and 3 days,, i had the d&c on june 17th.  I took a hpt on june 27th and it was positive.  July 3 it was negative, so i went to have my levels drawn july 8th and they were 29, i go back friday, fingers are crossed for them to be at zero.  Im not sure how accurate this statement is, but i here when they drop, it should be in doubles, just like how they rise, so i heard, dont quote me though.  And my ob said also it could take 2-8 weeks, every women is different. Its not even a month since my d&c but i swear it feels like ive been waiting 3 months for my levels to get to zero and get a period.  Hope this has been some help.

I miscarried after at about the same time and i all my levels dropped super quick...  But from what I understand everyone is different.  My levels went from over 150 to 10 in a matter of days.  I was told that it could take up to 6 weeks.  I was a little silly after my miscarriage and when I was back in for blood test for my second try I asked the nurse what had to happen and she told me, I just thought of what my levels needed to be and it happened...  I'm sure it was all nonsense, but positive thinking...  You just never know do you.  Keep your chin up and let me know how you go.  I'll be thinking of you.

with my first it took about 6 weeks but with my second, i had my period again within 2 weeks.  i had d and c's both times, but i thought it might help to see that i had 2 totally different wait times.

I had my m/c May 21, and I'm still having to get my HCG levels checked. My doctor told me i'm not in the norm with that. I even have gotten my period twice now. Best of luck.. and hang in there.

bny807: Glad to hear it's dropping so fast! Good luck and I hope the rest of the wait goes well.

I checked my levels for 3 months, and mine never got all the way to zero, beause I had retained tissue, so I had to have another D&C.  I hope this is not the case for anyone else!
