How long to try again after 2 Methotrexate shots?

Hello,

I have two questions relating to methotrexate in treating an ectopic pregancy:
1. After two injections of methotrexate, is it ok to resume ttc/ivf after 3 months, or does two doses require 6 months?
2. How long must I wait after the last metho shot to start taking folic acid again?

I had to have 3 shots as well and thought that was too much.  How long did they tell you to wait before trying again after 3 metho shots?

Thanks for all your responses, it's interesting to hear everyone's perspective. Unfortunately I have to go for a 3rd shot this afternoon, my hcg is 100 above base-line (605), so close but no cigar! I'm dreading the 3rd shot too, the side effects this last week from the 2nd one have been hideous.

I agree with peekawho. Every situation is different especially with an eptopic pg it so different from a natural m/c physically. I'm so sorry for your loss. Best wishes to you...

Your doctor should advise you about this very important question.  What one person may have been advised to do might not be what your doctor would personally advise you to do.

i had 1 metho shot, i was told to wait 2-3 months, but with 2 shots i think you should wait 5-6 months. i had mine in nov and am now 6wks pregnant. as far as the folic acid goes i know you have to wait til your hcg levels are back at zero. are you or have you been having them monitored?

I had 1 methotrexate shot in November & was told to wait three months before TTC. (I wasn't using IVF though). I kept taking my folic acid the whole time. I had just had a miscarriage in August & got pregnant w/the eptopic before my cycle had returned. I went on the pill for 3 months after the shot & had a regular cycle in January & am now 6 wks pregnant. So it was about 4 months total. Dont hesitate to ask your dr what he/she feels is the best amount of time for you. I had a LOT of bad side effects w/the methotrexate so being you had 2 shots they may add 3 months per shot. I hope this helps a little.

Morning i am not sure of the 2nd one but i know after 1 shot i was told to wait at least 6 months to TTC, wouldnt you know 6 months later 1st try we got pregnant but it ended in miscarriage.

I am not sure about the folic acid.
