How long...

How long is it normal to bleed after miscarriage? I had read that average is one week or 2 weeks. But when I miscarriaged my period was light flow and lots of tissue/blood clots but not heavy bleeding and it lasted for like for 3 days. How healthy is this? Is it healthy at all?... I'm worried because I conceived again & miscarriaged again... Maybe I didn't wait long enough to conceive but either way Docs are no help and I can't afford to go so many times to the doctor because even though I have insurance my HI only cover 80% of my bill so the other 20% I have to pay out of my pocket... The whole thing is so overwhelming...

It can be anywhere from a few days to a week.  If it has lasted two weeks, then they need to see a Dr.  Much depends on how far along you were and how easily your body handled it.  In very early loss, the bleeding is usually like a late and heavy period, lasting about the same time.  It is important after a loss to be seen by the Dr. to ensure that there are no complications.  It is important to be followed up with.

If it was a first trimester miscarriage, conceiving again quickly shouldn't be a big issue. First trimester miscarriage is usually just bad luck (due to chromosomnal abnormality) and can happen more then once.  It is only after a third consecutive loss that most Dr.'s will do further testing to try to find out why.

I don't think only bleeding 3 days is a big issue, but again, after every loss you do need to be followed up with.  I'm sorry for your loss, and I wish you well.

I've had 3 m/c's and the bleeding was different each time.  My doctor told me that after a natural m/c I should wait to have one normal cycle and then start trying again.  I've read about women who get pregnant right away after a m/c and do well.

I do agree that it's a good idea to get checked out by a doctor after a m/c.  I just had a m/c and went in for an ultrasound and blood work.  My doctor is having me come back in two weeks to check my blood again to make sure my hcg is back to 0.  With my last m/c I didn't go to the doctor but just took home pregnancy tests until I got one that was negative.

Sorry about your losses.  Best luck to you in the future.

Thank you so much ladies... I am very stressed about this. I am worried I am miscarriaging so much is my third time. It's a nightmare. Birth Control have so many side effects including being unable to carry a baby full term and so on... I used to be on the depo. :( I wish I shouldn't now because Doctors are assuming that is what it is. I am planning go go to be seen by a fertility specialist though because my Gyn Doc don't seem concern & slack docs like that is what causes severe stress. I'm praying God to help me through this. I'm upset... I don't sleep or eat, this whole thing is affecting me emotionally.

I miscarried last year.  I was 14 weeks but my boy stopped growing at 11 weeks.  If I remember correctly I bled heavy one week, the second week was like a normal period and then I spotted another week.  It took 5 and a half weeks to get my period and I fell pregnant after that first period.  I did use ovulation predictor kits to aid with falling pregnant.  I didn't have any follow up appointments until I went and asked for an hcg test and I delievered him in the bathroom at the hospital.

I do hope you get through this because I know how hard it is.  I have post natal depression because of my miscarriage which I am struggling with so I would recommend trying to overcome your miscarriages before you start trying again :)  Goodluck

OMG! I'M SO SORRY YOU HAD TO GO THROUGH THAT MAMITA. I KNOW IT IS HARD. MINE WAS 5 WEEKS AND 3 DAYS. I ONLY BLED FOR 3 DAYS. HAD ANOTHER PERIOD AND IT WAS THE SAME. SO STRESSFUL. I GOTTA BE SEEN BY A HEMATOLOGIST & A FETAL SPECIALIST! AND YES I AM DOING JUST THAT. GET OVER MY LOSS BEFORE CONCEIVING AGAIN. THANK YOU AND I'M SORRY AGAIN FOR YOUR LOSS LAST YEAR.

I've had 2 and the first ended up by being jsut like a normal period for me, except I passed the baby, no cramping tec, the next one I had a dnc and I didnt bleed at all, spotted abit for the day of the proceedure then nothing until my next period came. I think every miscarriage is differnt, and so long as its not prolonged heavy bleeding it all falls within that norml range
