Is it possible to have a zero hcg test right after an early pregnancy?

I had a late period, 7 days of cramping, two days of very light/brown spotting, then a period.  My doctor thought I had a miscarriage right after it implanted.  But when I got a blood test three days later, it was a negative for hcg.  Could I still have had a miscarriage without any hcg hormones in my blood? What else could the 7 days of cramping (and a thick feeling) be?

I'm sorry for your situation. It could very well have been. I had my last m/c in sept and less than a week of bleeding and my hcg was at zero. My numbers only went to 98 and I was 5 1/2 wks pg. So it's possible. It's hard to know if it truly was. Some wome have a chemical pg. Best wishes to you....
