Is this possible?

by MrsChism, Aug 18, 2009 12:38PM
I have recently miscarried in the past month. It started on July 24th, passed everything Aug 5, but I am still bleeding. Went a week with no cramps and now I feel like I am on my period. Is it possible for the end of a miscarriage and your normal cycle to resume immediately? If anyone has any insight on this, please let me know! Thanks!

What you are going through is possible..........read my post never ending miscarriage.  I wouldn't bank that it is your normal cycle though?

It is normal to bleed for about 2 weeks after a m/c - have you been bleeding since the 5th or did it stop and then start up again ? Did you go to your doctor and get your hcg level checked ?  I read that hcg is a hormone created by the placenta so, if  its still hanging around then maybe isn't your period.   How are you doing by the way ?

I started bleeding on July 24th, I passed the sac on the aug 5th, went to the doc about week later and did a follow up ultrasound just to make sure everything was out, and all they could see was just a tiny blood clot. I have not stopped bleeding at all since the 24th. So....with everyone telling me that you usually on bleed for about 2 weeks, and I've been bleeding for almost a month, I just wasn't sure if this could be my period even though I haven't stopped bleeding at all. I'm confused.

If you are having to change your pads frequently like every hour - I would say call the doc and demand answers. Here is hoping it is your regular cycle - however I know from my experience - although we all have diff experiences, I stopped bleeding before my period resumed. I would wait this out maybe a few more days - and then call doc if bleeding does not stop. I had to have 2 D&C's due to excessive bleeding and clots. After the second D&C I was good to go within about 5 days. If you are planning on TTC  I would prob wait until the next period because of the uncertainty of the one you have now. Good luck ! HUGS!

I counted the days of bleeding after the m/c -  the day the sac came out - maybe I miscalculated ?...  If you're supposed to include the start of bleeding before the m/c then I would've bled longer.    Did the doctor give you a blood test to see if hcg levels went down ? How much are you bleeding ? A few pads ? A liner ?  Is it spotting ? Maybe you should see your doctor and find some answers.  I hope this ends soon for you - I've been there - waiting and wondering .  I'm sure it's tough for you when you're wondering what is happening and you want it to be over with so that you can heal emotionally and ttc again. Good luck to you - I'd been wondering how you were doing.  My "ears" are always open.
