Low Progesterone

I was told today that I am 4 weeks pregnant but my progesterone levels is at 3.8 and my HCG levels is at 8, both of which are low.  Dr. said she would call me tomorrow tomorrow with todays bloodwork results.  I am very worried as I just had a miscarriage in March 2009 with only one period in between then and it was June 9, 2009.  Could low progesterone have been a factor in my first miscarriage? and what is the likely hood that I will be able to continue this pregnancy?  Dr said could be a chemical pregnancy or we could have just miscalculated the ovulation dates.  She mentioned starting me on progesterone therapy if the levels are raising.  Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks,
JV

The dr may put you on prometrium which is pill form which normally you take 3x's a day.  Nov 08 I was pregnant and my progesterone was very low, I started to bleed so that is why we checked the progesterone levels.   They put me on prometrium and my P4 levels went up into the 30's however the outcome of that pregnancy wasn't very good.  There have been lots of women with low progesterone levels put on supplements and have carried to term though.  Prometrium won't keep you from m/c but will delay it sometimes.

I would go on the prometrium and keep going to get your BHCG and P4 levels tested.

Very much so low progesterone could have been a factor.  Mine was at 8 for my last pregnancy.  I was  placed on Progesterone Supplements.  Very easy to take care of this problem.  You will have to be on suppositories (or that's how most docs do it) until the placenta completely takes over...around 12-15 weeks.  Don't know the answer to the second question.  Only thing I can tell you is to pray if you are religious.  I will be praying for you and I also had a miscarriage in March of 09 so if you need to talk please feel free to message me.

My advice is to go on progesterone.  And go back for more test before you do anything.  Keep us posted.
