MTHFR

I was just wondering if any of you also have this. I have MTHFR C677t and A1298C it is genetic. After my mc they did blood work and found that I have this. My dr was nice, she did all this test after my 1st, she said most drs do it after two or three. I am Diatx and the Prenatal pills and once I get pregnant baby asprin.

Just wondering if anyone had this also and your stories.

Thank you!

Latrice-Yup, Laura's totally right! I gave 12 vials of blood, and my insurance paid for it, and at the time I had one of the worst of insurances there is.

It's good to hear you're going to get tested for MTHFR, cause apparently it's VERY common, and so many ppl out there 1) test positive for the mutation or 2) have it full blown, and never even know.

Praying for you.

laura1985-Thanks so much for the info. I want to be TOTALLY prepared for the next time. If it means sticking myself w/ a needle, than so be it!
Praying your time will come as well!

TY laura, i figured i would try to get a work up since im waiting for AF, that was my first m/c, they didnt test for nothing but it would be a shame if it was from something i couldve been treated for and could try to prevent a second one, i wana do that.

How likely is stress to cause a m/c.  I no i got preggo in april, it wasnt planned but we were happy.  I was still in school and was really stressed out and not sure if i was going to graduate or not, school was not over until may 22, not to add, me and my fiance are in a long distance relationship so i was dealing with that to.  But of course the dr said stress alone would not cause a m/c.  Well ty for that info i will ask my dr and see if my insurance pay for it.

just tell your doctor you wanna do a miscarriage work up. its probably about 15 different things that they test for (such as mthfr and lupus). I must warn you, when they test you, they draw about 10 vials of blood (or at least they did on me at quest diag labs). i have excellent insurance through blue cross. i think my total out of pocket might have been 50$. im not sure what the state would cover, but they usually cover everything.

Hi ladies,im sorry for everyones loss, i had missed m/c june 12th and d&c june 17th.  im about to do a little research on MTHFR, but before i do i wanted to ask you ladies first.  What is the name of the test if i wanted my dr to test for it, and is it considered a fertility test or a test i can get done with my primary care physician.  While im waiting on AF to come, i want to try to get a few test done to make sure i dont have any problems, i already take 800mcg folic acid and prenatal, but i was going to ask her to check to see if i have folic acid defeciency.  Is there any other test i can get done that my insurance wont have a problem paying for(i have the state insurance for two more months)

i took baby aspirn for my last 3 pregnancies. it wasnt enough for me. my hemo doctor now has me on lovenox even though im not pregnant. as long as we are ttc, im sticking myself with that needle every night just to be on the safe side!

a girl on here that i am friends with took lovenox as well and had a little boy late last year. her doctor encouraged her not to take the baby aspirin with the lovenox because it can cause spotting, which can obviously cause all of us who have miscarried to stress!

if you have any questions about anything just ask. i have been through this 4 times so as sad as it is i have A LOT of knowledge about it!

Hi there!
I tested + for 1 mutation of MTHFR, which apparentley means I don't actually have it, which makes no sense to me. Anyways, I didn't get tested for it till I was prego for a 3rd time, and unfortunately it was too late, and I lost the baby. It's actually been 2 days since my D&E.

My "cocktail" of meds consists of progesterone suppositories, prenatals, Folbic(B12, B6, folic acid), baby aspirin, and my own extra mg of folic acid. As soon as I'm done with my antibiotics from the D&E, I'm going to start the new cocktail, and hope it's the RIGHT one to finally have a healthy baby.

Goodluck and prayers are with you!

i have this same thing. i was diagnosed after my 3 miscarriage. i went on all the meds and had my 4th miscarriage in april 08. now they have me on progesterone b/c they think that is another reason why i miscarry.  you might wanna ask your doctor about lovenox. its a shot of blood thinner (similar to heprin) that you give yourself everyday. that is what i am on right now. i also saw a hemo doctor who deals with pregnant women with mthfr and she told me that it is a folic acid problem. be sure to take a folic acid everyday.

best of luck. hopefully you will be pregnant soon!
