An empty sac at 9 weeks pregnant would sadly indicate a miscarriage. That said if you were definitely 9 weeks pregnant and not a lot less - 4 or 5 weeks maybe? Have been having your hCG levels checked every 24-48 hours to see if they have been decreasing because if so then it's definitely a miscarriage.

If you are 100% sure of your LMP and your HCG levels are falling, then you are having a miscarriage. An empty sac a 9 wks, with a gestational sac measurement greater than 18mm can be labeled as a blighted ovum; which is a fancy way of saying a pregnancy with no DNA. However, if your levels (HCG) are rising, you may be off on your dates and can be earlier than 9 weeks. Good luck.
