Misscariage length cramps and bleeding

I was 7 weeks pregnant.
Last Friday I started to spot brown when I wiped with mild cramps. Doctor books scan for Tuesday.
Saturday more brown spotting and cramps
Sunday more brown spotting and cramps with mild back ache
Monday the cramps worsened so went to A&E but came home after 3 hours waiting and been told to wait for scan Tuesday. Brown spotting turned heavy dark brown and the cramps and backache worsened.
Tuesday 8.30am scan reveals 7week fetus with no heartbeat measuring 8.4mm given hospital certificate stating threatened misscarrage. Pains worsen in back and pelvis.
Wednesday at 2.30pm after hours of cramps and  backache and feeling scared out of my wit I passed fetus (it measured 2 inches long and 1/2inch wide)
husband called hospital where I had the scan and they said I'd just misscarried after he'd explained what I'd just passed.
The pain straight after was unbearable, it felt like my womb had been torn or something, I had two paracetamol and two ibriprovin to ease pain. Bleeding became very heavy and bright red, I was changing pads every hour.
Thursday the bachache had dissapeared but bleeding was heavy changing pad every hour. Cramps worse when I got up and moved around. A BIg livery clot came out about the size of a 10p by this time I'm feeling really sad and in pain
it's now Saturday and I'm still having cramps but the bleeding has stopped(suddenly) I am so scared as this is my first misscarrage. The reason I have written about my misscarrage is because I was scared of the unknown and this site has helped me cope with what I am going through by giving me information on what to expect from real people. Hopefully I can help someone else who suffers the pain of misscarrage.
I need help now tho,
how long do these cramps last?
The bleeding has stopped and I just have brown spotting but the cramps are making me feel really  useless. When I walk my dog it's like I'm getting period cramps again.
Is this normal???

I know they say that your uterus shrinks back and this is what you are feeling but I was only 7 weeks.
Please if anyone can help ease my mind I would be most grateful xx
I have a follow up scan appointment on Friday, seven days away.

I had SEVERE pain with my m/c. It was so bad they gave me morphine at the ER and 20 percs to take home. After 2-3 days the pain died down. A week after the pain was gone, it came back again for a day...the percs helped. Then a week later the pain came AGAIN! Each time the pain was so terrible that I almost prayed to die rather than suffer thru the pain. The whole time I was checking in with dr. I had the metho shot pretty early because my numbers went up and down and up again over the course of a week. After the shot, my numbers progressively went down, but the pain kept returning.I started af about 7 days ago (about 30 days after m/c) and that was the last of the intense pain. Now I am just having af cramps - something I can def deal with!

I decided to join this group if that's ok because it seems like we are all on the same schedule (or near that). I should be having the hsg test done soon and start the high dose folic acid in the next week or so and can ttc next cycle I believe. I don't think there is any medical reason for you all to not ttc because you had d&c done. But if you take the metho shot, you do have to wait 2 cycles for the meds to leave your system (and to build up the folic acid robbed from your body).

Good luck ladies and keep posting...I'd like to know how you all are doing and coping with the waiting!

Absolutely! Unless there is some sort of problem, then waiting serves no purpose! (especially at my age!) Thanks for your kind words! It was such a shock when it happened! I spent the weekend pouring over my charts and figured out that the tissue I passed must have been from my pregnancy in April. I hope I never have another m/c, but if I do, I will be way more careful to make sure I pass it all. It can be dangerous if it's left there for too long. (potential infection)

Good that you're working on improving your diet. My health has finally started to improve and I owe that in large part to my diet changes. I no longer eat gluten or refined sugar. (Haven't had alcohol in months) And I'm going to try to give up dairy next. I have increased the fruits & vegetables and am taking some good supplements including wheatgrass and maca root. (and many others but those are my two favorites for fertility)

I wish you the VERY best of luck! Hopefully we will both have a BFP soon! Big hugs to you, too! And SSBD!

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Words cannot explain how emotionaly draining it is to go through a misscarriage!
Like you I am trying to get healthy so I can try again, I'm taking the folic acid eating loads of fresh vegetables and cutting out alcahol completly.
I've decided not to wait for a cycle before trying again, if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen, I don't think there is any medical reason not to concieve so soon other than it's difficult for midwifes to calculate your due date. Many people on this forum have gotten pregnant and delivered healthy babies straight away after a misscarriage.
I'm thinking of you and hoping you feel better soon, huge hugs x

Glad to hear you are doing better! I just had another miscarriage of my own since I last posted! Can you believe it? I was about 6 weeks pregnant. Very early but still very traumatic. It really reminds me of the emotional toll that m/c takes on us and that we have to be patient and let ourselves grieve for this loss. I am looking forward to trying again, too. I am working hard on getting my overall health better so I can carry to term. I wish you the best going forward and hope that you can carry to term the next time you conceive! SSBD!

Thankyou so much for your kind thoughts xx
I have just come back from the hospital this morning and the scan has showed a clear uterus, everything is normal now.
The pains have almost gone apart from a painful niggle  occasionaly when I walk my dog.
I had three days of heavy bleeding and now just occasional spotting which they say is normal.
I feel happier in myself just knowing that everything is ok.
I have a specialist appointment on the 16th July to talk about the next steps.
This is my second misscarrage the first was two years ago and nowhere near as painful as this one.
I'm ready to start trying again as soon as I've had a normal cycle, whenever that may be.
For now my husband and I are extreamly happy that I got pregnant in the first place as we've been trying for 7 years.
Thankyou again for all your support, this website has really helped me deal with my masscarriage and I feel stronger for it.

Sorry to hear of your loss, I know what you're going through. For me, my miscarriage occurred just over a month ago now. Like Sherri my cramps didn't last long either. It's possible due to the heavy pain and bleeding you're been having that you have possibly passed all of it.

I miscarried at 13 weeks. Mine was different, I had light bleeding at first, then after seeing the doctor and hospital, they confirmed through an ultrasound that we had lost the baby. They gave me medication to speed up the process, and I felt terrible pain for a few hours, just as you described. A week later, they did the ultrasound and told me it had all passed.

Good luck with your follow up scan, and stay strong. Thinking of you, Gem

I am so sorry for your loss. I think my cramps didn't last long when I miscarried at 8 weeks. (maybe a day or two) But every women is different. My concern would be that there may be some tissue still inside. You should call your doctor on Monday. Perhaps they'll say it's ok to wait until Friday for your next scan. But having as much pain as you're having this many days later makes me wonder if all of it came out. If there is anything left, you might have to have a D&C unfortunately. (hopefully not) I hope they can figure out what caused the m/c or at least hopefully it will just be a one-time thing. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
