Period and pregnancy ?'s after D&C

Hi everyone, first I was to say sorry for all the losses out there.... :(

A bit of history:  I am 27 and have a 1.5 year old daughter (took a year to get prego w/ her).  We decided to have one more and I got pregnant on our second month of trying.  Miscarried really early (not sure exactly when) and had to have a D&C at 7 weeks when an er visit showed no heartbeat at 6 weeks.  I knew something was wrong as I started spotting at 5 weeks and that never stopped :(

D&C date June 4th.  I very mildly spotted for about a week.  Then nothing for a week then starting on the 18th I had full on bleed w/ a little cramping that lasted 5 days.  I considered this my period as it was exactly like my periods are.  I went to my follow up post D&C appt and the dr. said there is no way I can have a period two weeks after D&C.  Has anyone out there had their period that soon after the surgery??  I was thinking it was possible esspecially since I wasn't very far along.

Everything since has been fine....I was having some cramping during the past week...which I am hoping was ovulation pains.  I am hoping we can get pregnant immediately.  During the follow up the dr. did give us the go head and said my uturus was fine and back to normal size, but she never ordered a HCG count????

Sorry this was so long, but I know it helps to answer ?'s when there is some history.  This was my first miscarriage :(   Anyone have a period soon after D&C and get pregnant soon after as well????

Thx so much for all the feedback.
I started my period (I am pretty sure this time!!LOL!) yesterday pretty much 4.5 weeks after D&C.  It's pretty painful and I have normal flow so I am hoping this is AF!!

Ready to try this month...already purchased the OPK's :)

Thanks again and I am sorry for everyone's losses....here's to BFP's in all our near futures!!!

I had to have a D&C at 11 1/2 weeks due to a Missed Miscarriage.  I didn't bleed for more than 12-24 hours after the D&C, then about a week or so later I had what you describe as a period.  It was the same length and same amount of blood as my normal period.  Then about 4 days later I ovulated.

I think it can be normal, although there is no normal after a miscarriage and/or D&C.

Also, I had the D&C done on Nov 30th, then on Dec 30th I got my *real* period, and we started trying that month and got pregnant right away.  I'm 27 weeks and my baby girl is doing great!  Good luck!

I still have no signs of a period. I was at 11w2d when I had the D&C but the baby had passed at just after 7w. I don't know if the timelines matter with a D&C as much as with a miscarriage because of the sudden drop in hormone levels but it is weird how everyone reacts differently to a D&C. I haven't had ANY bleeding since the spotting after the D&C. I didn't really expect to have a period for at least a month because you have to ovulate and all, but I just wish it would happen soon!
I hope everything straightens out for both of us soon!
I'm sorry for your loss too. I hope we never have to go thru that again.

It was weird b/c before the surgery the dr. came in and told me that she was sorry and all that (she wasn't the dr. who diagnosed the miscarriage) and she told me to expect my period a few weeks after the D&C but then when I went to my follow up she said it can't be a period??  Doesn't make much sence to me.

They didn't ever do a ultrasound....just checked my uterus by feeling it's size.  All she said was it could be residual bleeding.  But the amount...color...everything was just like my normal period even symptom wise.  I have also heard of women getting pregnant right after a m/c so I don't see why they can say it was DEFINENLTY not a period.

So you haven't had a period??  How far along were you before the m/c?  See that is what I am wondering is if all the timelines have to do w/ how far along you are at the time of the m/c?

I am sorry for your loss.

I had a d&c on May 20, nearly 7 weeks ago, and I haven't bleed at all since about 2 weeks after the d&c (that was mostly spotting). Did your doctor not tell you what it could have been if not a period? I always heard that if you had heavier bleeding to let your doctor know so they could check for problems. Maybe call them up and ask what they think it was. Did they do an ultrasound to check your uterus size or just feel it? I guess if you doctor wasn't concerned maybe it is ok but I would be curious too, not knowing what it was. Let me know what they tell you.
Good luck TTC!
