Pounding Headache after miscarriage?

Hi

I had a miscarriage last sunday 20th July at 13weeks but the baby had died at 8weeks 4days( Missed miscarriage ). Since Wednesday I have had pounding headaches every day that feel like my pulse is beating hard in my head. Its worse when I move around. Is this hormones or just stress and crying to much. Anyone else experiances this?

Words cant express how depressed and hurt I am. I cant stop crying and I feel as though I have no one. i went through my miscarriage alone and it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I was only 10 weeks. But as a mother you connect instantly with your lil growing person inside you. To have that taken away is very difficult. Im having severe headaches and been a lil dizzy with no appetite. I went from being angry to extremely sad. Sorry to any woman who has experienced a miscarriage.

First of all im so sorry for your loss. Im glad i checked here because i was beginning to think something was wrong with me. I had a miscarriage at 11 wks and dnc last wednesday morning and i still have the most horrible headaches. Like My plus is pounding in my head. One day im ok enough to get out of bed and the next day i cant sleep or get out of bed. Tylenol n motrin dont help. I could use a few more days off from work to deal with these. Ill try the coffee thank u

I just had a miscarriage. I was 12 weeks with first baby. It its absolutely the worst time of my life. This was my first pregnancy at age 33. Before that I didn't think I could have babies. I am really having trouble dealing with this. And I keep a headache. So if you find out what's the cause please let me know.

Hi
I am also sorry you are going through this.  I miscarried at 14 weeks but my baby measured 11.  I remember having a headache for about 1-2 weeks after my miscarriage.  I have read this can be normal, I guess with all the stress and crying it causes.  Goodluck

Oh yeah. i had pounding headaches for 4 or 5 days after the miscarriage. probably from the blood loss mixed with stress, and nothing helped. i couldn't just lay my head down and it slow down like normal pounding headaches. It was horrible. took so much tylenol and it didnt even touch the headache. after the fifth day, i thought that it was similar to the feeling of a caffeine headache, so i made a pot of coffee, after not having coffee for a few months, and it went away 100% by the time i was done with the first cup. and haven't had it return yet. anyways, sorry about what happened 2 you. i couldnt even wish this kind of pain on my worst enemy.

I recently had a miscarriage. September 3, 2010. Yesterday was the first day I didn't cry about my loss instead I cried for other stress related issues.  Nonetheless I had these pounding headaches since 4 am. I cant function or sleep idk what to do but it's super painful. I'm going to try a very hot relaxing bath. I am sorry for everyone's loss.

I had a miscarriage on March 29, 2010.  I've had a migraine since April 1st.  After taking Advil and Tylenol without relief, I drank tea with caffeine I used 6 tea bags.  It worked immediately!!!

I started having intense headaches/migraines 4 days before my dr.'s appointment (9-17-09) that told me I had a "missed miscarriage". I was 9 weeks, but baby only showed 5 weeks 4 days. I had a D&C (9-18-09). I'm still having horrible, HORRIBLE headaches. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I try and drink more cokes to relieve some of the pain. No pain medicine helps except for the prescription pills they gave me after my D & C. I go back to the Dr.  soon for a follow-up. I'm so tired of these headaches, I called my regular Dr. He's going to get back in touch with me. I will update everyone on his suggestions.

I'm so sorry for everyones' loss. :(

I found this site because I googled headaches after miscarriage. I had a miscarriage on June 18, 2009 and yes, it was the absolute worst experience of my life. I would not wish it on my worst enemy, so I am very sorry to all of you who have lost a baby.
I found the posts very beneficial because I have been having extreme headaches for six days now and was very curious as to why. I am assuming it's my hormones being all jacked up. Now that I see there are others out there with my same concern, I am somewhat relieved. I am going back to the doctor tomorrow for more blood tests because my beta levels were still high last week. I will ask her about my headaches.
Thank you to all who took the time to post your experiences. It's been helpful to me.
Take care,

Kristy

i had a horrible, horrific, terrible miscarriage 4 days ago. i was 11 weeks along, and i have never ever ever seen so much blood and "tissue" and clotting come out. i was shocked that i could lose so much blood and still be alive. i literally lost pints and pints of the stuff, including about 35 or more lemon-sized blood clots. it was so awful. i was at the emergency room for 12 hours on monday, finally went home, and passed more clots all night long on monday night. my bleeding finally got much better on tuesday and the rest of the week, but on tuesday i also developed the worst headaches ever. i have never really had headaches before, and these were awful. felt like i imagined migraines to feel. i took tons of ibuprofen and it didn't work at all. all i wanted to do was sleep in a dark room. finally this morning i took the advice mentioned here and drank two cups of strong coffee. voila, my headache went away. it is not 9:30 pm and my headache is still gone. i will try sleeping tonight and hopefully the headache will stay away. if it comes back i will try more coffee. i also bought excedrin migraine (with caffeine) and might take that instead, if the headache comes back. just wanted you all to know the coffee definitely worked for me.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this.  Honestly, some people have headaches due to taking painkillers.  I, being one of those people.  Can they prescribe a migrane pill temporarly for you until they go away?

Hi Thanks for your comments,

I went to the Doctors today and was told that this was due to tension and stress. I will continue taking painkillers and hope that it goes away soon. when will this end....

Hi Kaiya. I am so sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage on July 1. I didn't get a lot of headaches, but it could be due to the crying. and as no one can tell you to stop crying, because after something like this is imposible. We know what you are going through. If the headache is very strong yeah you should go back to your doc. i experimented a lot of other pains and and just physical reactions I guess you can call them. and I ran to doc. i wanted to make sure everything was okay. to the point that i practicallly seen every doc in ob/gyn, and yeah they probably got bored of me but its your body.

Sorry really. and if you need to talk we are here. GOD Bless you. I cant tell you to be strong just take it easy.

I am also so sorry for your loss.  I also experienced terrible headaches after 2 of my m/c and I will tell you what my Dr. told me.  I am not sure if you had a D&C or not, but the drugs from that were a part of the equation. Also, was such a traumatic stressful emotional thing to go through (as it was for you too obviously) and that just made things worse.  Throw in the out of whack hormones, and it was major migraine time.   I took a prescription drug for a short time for them, and I wish I could remember the name of them. I don't have any left unfortunately, but they are prescribed specifically for migraines and only available through prescription.  It was something like emitrix...thats not quite right, but close.  Maybe ask your Dr.

I hope you are doing ok.  This in my opinion is one of the most difficult things a women can go through, and I will keep you in my thoughts.  Take good care and I wish you well.

Hi
Thank you for your comment. Sorry that you have also had this horriable experiance. It has been the most traumatic time of my life as we had been planning this baby and looking forward to it. I have been taking pain killers regularly and it does ease it but its still there. I waited for a natural miscarriage and it hasn't yet completed so may need to have a D&C if it hasn't cleared by next week...eeek. Will go to the doctors on Monday to get checked over.

Hi, im sorry for your loss, i to had a missed m/c june 12th and d&c june 17th, i was suppose to be 10weeks and 3 days but u/s showed baby 10weeks.  I didnt have a headache afterwards, i was more depressed than anythiing.  Have your tried taking tylenol or ibuprofen or something, if you have taking something and it hasnt helped releive the pain i would calll your dr.  (you might want to stay away from pills that contain asprin if you are still bleeding, because it is also a blood thinner and might make you bleed a whole lot)

Again im sorry for your loss and understand what you are going threw, if you need to vent, chat etc you can always send me a message, this is also a great forum with wonderful supportive women.  I will keep you in mmy prayers.
