Hey sorry to hear about ur loss. I had a miscarriage on the 16th which was my b/day and yesterday i took a DNC. I told my doctor that the baby had fell out in the toilet bowl but what he told me is that once the baby is in ur 1st trimester all of it does not actually come out so u will need a DNC and i found this to be true because my 1st miscarriage i bleed worse than the second. The doctor in the hospital gave me some tablets cause he said that i didnt need an ultrasound but after a few days i ended up right in the hospital again. I believe a DNC is the way out cause im feeling so good and not bleeding.

I am very sorry about your loss.  Just had a miscarriage myself so I know what you are going through.  I ended up having a d&c when given the choice just because they said once you have one, you know it's over with and that the bleeding will stop within a week or two.  They told me if I did wait for it to happen naturally then you could end up needing d&c to get all of the miscarriage product out to prevent infection eventually anyway.  I had a friend who did the natural route.... she was bleeding for 4 weeks, but did not end up needing a d&c.  It is a personal choice if you don't medically need a d&c, but personally I am glad I did it.  It has been two weeks I only experianced aftermath for a week or so, had my check up today and cervix and uterus are already back to normal.  Although, doc still said to wait 1-3 cycles to start trying again.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

The large clots are def normal... i had a miscarriage on the 27th of June and I passed enormous clots.  It was really gross.  anyway they said that i passed everything and didn't need to have a d &c.  it's been 3 weeks since i started this ordeal and i am still bleeding and started passing small clots again a week ago.  from what i have been reading the normal bleeding time for a natural ( letting things happen on their own) is two weeks at the most.    i guess you have to be careful and make sure everything comes out or you can get an infection     a d&c is basically where they put you to sleep most of the time and dialate your cervix and scrape everything out... like i said the my dr said for me it wasn't necessary but everyone is diff.... hope this helped you out a bit... sorry for your loss
