Recent miscarriage told I have bicornuated uterus

I am 31 years old.  I had my first pregnancy and had a healthy baby girl by c-section because she was in the breach position.  She is now 22 months old and my husband and me were trying to conceive another child.  I became pregnant again and had a miscarriage at 7 weeks.  Upon 3D ultrasound I was told that I had a bicornuated uterus and asked if my prior doctor had told me that, at which I replied no.  The doctor told me that he has to look at my operative report to see if there was mention of it and to determine if septated, which he does not believe since I already had a full term healthy baby.  He told me I had 80% conception chance if there is no septated uterus or whatever.  I have read conflicting information on the internet.  I am becoming really destressed.  Will I be able to conceive again and can I carry a baby full term again.  Was this just that 15% in all pregnancies that you hear about.  I lost my baby this past Friday and am still mourning loss and would like to be optimistic on chance of conceiving again in near future to help get through this but now with this discovery I am really worried and scared I will never be able to give my daughter a sibling and my husband another child.  Please help.  Does anyone know anything about this condition?

I am having hysteroscopy soon to see if I have a septate or bicornuate so my be getting upset prematurely. I am at slightly higher risk d/t a congenital renal abnormality on my left side. So, I am preparing that it is possible. Wondering, since you had the surgery, how long did you have to wait to try to conceive again? MD said probably month after but depends on the severity. I had 2 miscarriages this year (1st tri) and am very sad but desperately want a baby. No children yet. I know stressing myself is not good but can't help not thinking about it.

I was told by my RE from an HSG test that I had a septated uterus as well.  My Re did surgery on mine to correct it and now I'm 24 weeks and everything seems to be going good.  Prior to having it fixed I had 4 miscarriages.

Sorry to hear about your loss.  I too have a bicornuate uterus.  I only found out last year when I was PG which I ended up losing at 8 weeks.  I am now 10 weeks PG and so far, so good, I hope this one sticks.  Since I found out about my uterus I have done a lot of research about it.  Having this sort of uterus DOES NOT affect your fertility. The only thing it can affect is being able to carry a baby full term which you have already done so it is definitely possible. It does depend on how severe the split is down the middle as if your uterus is totally separate, your baby can run out of room and. therefore, you are at a higher risk of having a 2nd trimester m/c. My gyno also told me that this would not be the reason for having an early (before 12 weeks) m/c either, we are more at risk in the next trimester. I really would not worry at all because you have proven that you can fall PG and have a baby.  All teh best and take care.
