Risk factors

Hi ladies, I am still early in my pregnancy but due to a mmc in Aug, I am constantly concerned about it happening again. Some of you may have experienced a late miscarriage (after 12 weeks). I was just wondering what some of the causes were and if you perhaps were told of risk factors that could lead to not carrying to full term.
I am sorry for your loss if you have experienced it, I know very well what a shock and emptiness it can leave and it changes you forever. Hope you can give advice so many women can be more informed.

Hi, thank you for you sharing your experience. I went for my 12wk scan on the 18th and due to baby's size, I was measured in at 13wks. They said everything seems normal. I'm not experiencing any extreme symptoms but I am worried that the baby might stop growing. I'm now at the point where I'm trying to feel whether baby is moving, so that would put my mind at ease. So far I'm not able to tell diff between gas and kicking, lol. I am trying to stay optimistic but after last time, when I had almost no symptoms, the shock of going in at 12 wks and seeing an underdeveloped fetus just shocked me to pieces.
When was the first time you saw your baby's heart beat? I saw hearbeat at 10 wks (I was given an 'early scan' due to what happened before) and again at 12 wks. I am on thyroid meds and have been for many years. This is a risk factor for early miscarriage/not carrying to term, hence my worry. My dosage has been the same all this time, so I pray my condition hasn't changed for the worse now that I'm pregnant. Im supposed to see an endocrinologist but its taking ages. I just want to know that my levels are correct. Looking at my extended family history, no-one has had problems and most have at least 3 children. I'm one of the last to be having children, so it is quite a deal for me.

Congrats on your pregnancy :) I had a missed miscarriage at 14 weeks in Oct and it was devastating. She was healthy and active when I saw the ultrasound and at my 14 week she had no heart beat and had stopped growing. I've been asking these same questions. My doctor first rules out a molar pregnancy. Now he's doing blood work on me for  a clotting disorder which is some what common and can cause it to happen. If and only of that's the case he will put me on baby aspirin the next time I'm pregnant to prevent it. Also as soon as I'm pregnant again he's checking my progesterone levels to see if I need to take that while pregnant during the first trimester. I hope this helps! May I ask how far along you are now? Try not to worry, many prayers and hugs to you!
