TTC and I dont think i had the right days to try!!!

OK, so we have been TTC for months now and no luck.  We we having sex every other day until the positive ovulation and then the day of.  So today I was on line and reading that we should have sex the day of the positive result and for a couple days after.  i feel so stupid.  I guess maybe that will give me a little more hope for the future....assuming i am getting everything right about when is the right time!  Why does this have to be so hard and take so LONG????

we were trying for about 11 months before I got pregnant. they say that after you come of birth control it can take a year though. what symptoms do you have if have allergies to sperm? I dont think I am but the thought had definitely crossed my mind.
I feel the same about Robitussin. the Dr said I could take it when i was pregnant and i had a cold but i dont think i would try it again in aiding TTC.
what did you mean when you said chemicals in stain?
there are so many things these days that will or could harm the development of a fetus that to be totally sure noting was going to affect the development one would need to be in a bubble of safety for there whole pregnancy, and that's just not possible. what ever was wrong with your baby was in no way your fault and I truly hope that you realize that and don't beat yourself up about it!!!!!

I have ALWAYS heard to stay away from any ****** as well.  I think it is only recommended by a fertility specialist when they can positivley tell you what is going on in your body.  I definitley dont think it is something to do unless your dr. tells.  As far as the robutusson, I only took it for a couple days because I am afraid to take anything that could harm the baby, but she def. said it was recommended for DH.  I can tell you that my husband is not going to take cough medicine unless he has a cough or the Dr tells him.  Having to see the ultrasound of your baby deformed because of the chemicals in stain make you REALLY afraid to have anything in you that could potentially harm the fetus.  I keep thinking "if we only knew we were pregnant"  It is so hard not to totally blame myself and wish I could go back, but I have to think that god has a plan for everything, it sure doesn't seem fair.  
Anyway, there still is a chance that you could be allergic to you DH sperm and still conceive, it could just take longer.  How long did you try?

I was told to stay away for any kind of douch. I thought I had too acidic CM as often i didnt notice any change in CM. I also tried the Robitussin from a few days after AF and didnt notice a change in CM. I also read on other sites not to take Robitussin. I didnt think about DH taking it though!  I used to think i was allergic to DH sperm, but I guess im not seen i did get pregnant in the end.

the sites I read about the Robutusson said to take it twice a day after AF until ovulation.  I only did it for a couple of days before O.  I did just talk to my aunt on the phone, she worked in a fertility clinic in Long Island for 10 years.  She said how sometimes the problem is so simple.  The male sperm can be too thick (and they recommended robutusson for the male) and sometimes it can be that the female has a too acidic CM which kills the sperm and all that is required is a vinager douch.   Also some women are actually allergic to their husbands sperm and kills it.  It is so hard to tell.  Other obvious reasons are the amount of sperm the DH has.  I guess if it takes too much longer we will go see a Dr.  She did however say that i am lucky because at least we know that we can get preg. which is the same for everyone here.  
As for the "sperm meets the egg plan'  that is why I thought we werent timing BD right since we only have been doing the BD for the day of O and the day after, but this time did not the day after.

I was going to put this on your other post but forgot.  Mapes also suggested the "sperm meets egg plan", which is basically what you are talking about anyway, but it includes the BD after the + OPK.  I think we are going to try that this month.  I have heard about the Robutusson.  How much did you take and when?  It will be interesting to see if that does the trick.  I'm waiting to O right now, but I'll be sending you XXSSD to you while your in you TWW.

I just left you a long note and forgot to type in the code letters and it erased.  Anyway, I think you may have just made my day if you only went into the test was positive.  We did too but I thought we had to also have sex on the days after...maybe I still am in the TWW.  before the last pregnancy we tried for two years, but I had no idea about ovulation times and I can tell you that the chance we got it on the right time was pretty slim.  We have been together long enough that my DH isn't trying to jump me all the time anymore :)
I tried the robutusson for like 3 days before ovulation this month...

We had pretty good luck since I just miscarried a couple of months ago.  I had my son 2 years before I got pregnant the second time, and we weren't "trying" but were just kind of hoping.  I know your situation is harder since you were further along with your baby, so just remember that it takes longer for your body to readjust.  The only thing we did differently was to try when OPK was on its way up.  We are not the couple to try every day since then it really seems like "trying."  I think i read that you can tell when you are getting ready to ovulate.  We typically only go until the test is positive, then stop.  Some people say to do it again 2 or 3 days later just to be sure.  I have also read that some people use a sperm-friendly lubricant (I can't remember what it's called but I will look it up and post later) or even a decongestant like robitussin to get more favorable cm.  It just seems so complicated sometimes.  How long did you ttc before your last pregnancy?

you know the one month that i relaxed and didn't think about it is when  got pregnant. I hated it when everyone told me to not think about it and stop trying and it will happen! DH was going for test so i figured i would wait till that came back. the dr said he would start with DH and also if it didnt happen in two more months then he would do some tests on me then maybe meds if the tests came back clear. turns out the test was a waist of money. I mean he has two children already but the dr said he was the first one to make sure was working ok and was the easiest test to start with.

as i said i didnt worry so much that month and it happened. to be honest if i made DH perform every day for a whole month then i would be hating it after a week and so would he. stess would set in even more and neither of us would even enjoy it. sometimes DH and I hold out on each other until close to ovulation time. makes it way more fun and not just baby making sex... if you know what i mean. tease for a few days but dont give any. spice it up but dont give any. take some stress out of ovulation time and have fun with it rather than stress about it.

ive read in quite a few places that if your cervical mucus is to acidic then its not sperm friendly. the better the ph of your cervical mucus the longer the sperm will last in you waiting for an egg to fertilize. they also say that as you get older the cervical mucus changes. I guess that another reason why you might be more fertile as a teenager

when i read this i took even more notice of what my mucus was like around ovulation time. there are different stages of what it should feel like (you know... egg white, watery, dry etc...) if you dont notice any change in cervical mucus or any at all at ovulation time then maybe mention this to you dr and see if this could be a problem.

Also, anyone using anything like KY or in fact any lubricant no matter what is not sperm friendly. so that's where holding out helps... if your really wanting it you wont need lube.

even though we have not been worrying about waiting the two cycles we haven't been hard out trying either. I still stress about the testing and wanting a BFP but really we have just been enjoying each other. even after AF comes finally for the first time im still going to try my hardest not to be like i was the first year i was trying.. i got so sick of the stress of baby making love and don't need that after the stress of loosing my twins. I want to make that time of the month fun not stressful.

Now, stress about POAS i don't think will ever go away!!!!! Grrrrrr

I can say from what I read that you are SUPER fertile in your teens early 20's, that's why if you'd look at boy wrong, you'd get preggers.  I don't know how true that is . . .

Everyday!!  I can barely get DH through my peak time.  He's no spring chicken :)

We TTC for 2 years, I can't bare the thought of it taking that long again.  I can't hardly hear myself think over the sound of that darn ticking clock.

Thanks for the advice.  i know we are going to have to do something different to keep this like work...but everyday?  I wish, but that would never happen!  I know what you mean, in highschool they act like if you KISS a boy you are going to get pregnant! HA!  How long were you trying this time mapes???  and what worked?

I couldn't agree more with mapes that is why they call it the miracle of life it's a miracle anyone even becomes pg. Okay so my advice to you is throw out the kit and do things the convential way. If this cycle you don't become pg do it everyday for your entire cycle including your period. If that doesn't work ask your dr his or her advice. I wish you the best of luck.
