c-section scar tissue the cause of my recent miscarriage?

by lvsceramics, Apr 22, 2009 12:42AM
I delivered my first child vaginally, my second child by a c-section. my c-section was 2 years ago and I do know I have some scar tissue from the c-section delivery. I recently found out I was pregnant but miscarried before 6 weeks. I am just concerned that my husband & I may not be able to have another child in the future. I am also hesitant to try for another pregnancy with the worry that I will lose that pregnancy and have to deal with this pain and grief all over again. any suggestions? can the scar tissue be removed? & what sort of procedure is involved in removing it? any advice is welcomed. thanks!

Scar tissue will usually be removed during the delivery of your next child.  My mom had 3 c-sections.  She had miscarriages but not due to that.  My neighbor has 2 boys, all c-sections and my aunt had 4 kids, back in the 1940's/50's all c-sections.  It's probably not scar tissue that caused your miscarriage.  Most likely, it was a problem with the pregnancy.  Good luck in your future pregnancies.  Try not to worry, I'm sure you'll be having another child in the future.

I'm sorry for your loss. I agree with marie1210. I myself have had 2 c-sections and 6 m/cs and my m/cs had nothing to do with prior pgs or c-sections. Usually not in every case but scar tissue usually affects becoming pg. I would def ask your dr though and find out. I had ovarian surgery in jan of 06 and they removed scar tissue and in fact it caused me more problems. it was not my ob that did it I went to the er and it was the dr in that hosp. I would ask your dr how envasive it would be for your situation and what the recovery would be. Everyone and situation is different. I hope everything works out for you. Best wishes to you and keep me posted.....
