confused

My husband and I have been TTC so all last week I started taking pregnancy test hoping this time I got pregnant. Last Thursday I got a very very faint pink line. The next day I went and bought 2 more tests. I took 1 Friday and the other Saturday. They were both very positive (different tests. First one was hcg strips, second was ept early detection) Sunday I started bleeding, but it was pretty light so I tried to keep calm about it. Today the bleeding got heavier so I went to the e.r. I have a history of miscarriages and also a stillbirth, so I was really worried. They did blood work and an ultrasound. They saw nothing on the ultrasound and said my hcg levels was 6. He said it should have been in the 5,000s at least. Is it possible I got 3 false positives? If I did miscarry, how did my hcg levels drop so quickly? I only started bleeding yesterday.

First, I'm very sorry that you weren't pregnant or had a miscarriage. I know how hard that can be.

Second though, were you in pain when you went to the emergency room? Or having abnormal bleeding beyond what a normal period would be?

In any case, there is nothing they can do to stop a miscarriage. The only real reason to go to an emergency room (expensive and they are not pregnancy specialists by any means), is if the pain from miscarriage is getting out of control or the bleeding. Otherwise, call your regular doctor and ask them to see you as soon as possible if you are worried or think they can help (hormones, etc).

Not trying to be corrective-just trying to save you time and money. I miscarried in an emergency room, and I'm still paying for it. I did not need to go there. To my doctor the next day is what I should have done!

Hope you get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy soon.

Well I just looked around online what normal hcg levels are for around 4 weeks. Apparently the emergency doctor was an idiot because it said for week 4 it would be around 500 not 5,000. Then each day that number should double. Now it makes more sense to me. I'm going to keep trying. This was my 5th pregnancy and I have 1 living child. I have now had 3 miscarriages and 1 stillbirth. I have an appointment with the OB on the 7th. Going to see what I can do to get pregnant and stay that way.
