still bleeding 10 weeks after miscarriage

Hi,  Has anyone else been through this?
I was 8 weeks pregnant when i had a scan and they said i had had a missed miscarriage.  The hospital wouldnt do a d&c so was told to wait for it to happen naturally.  This happened 2 weeks later.  I am still bleeding 10 weeks on from this, i have had swabs and there is no infection, they put me on antibiotics for 10 days, no help.  The hospital said to do a pregnancy test the other day which i did and it came back negetive.  What can i do?  I am a teacher i bleed continuously and then have sudden rushes of bleeding where i have to leave the classroom. Got so many emotions going on and starting not to be able to cope with this?  Any help greatly recieved.

I would have to agree with the comments above. I too have suffered a miscarriage a few months ago, it was my second loss actually and I too went through the same headache of a recovery.
I did not have a D&C done with my first and I recovered just 2 weeks later, I also requested not to have a D&C done with my second but this time it took me 2 months to stop bleeding. I bled a light flow, like a period on the better days but only heavily for maybe the first week or 2 right after my miscarriage. I spent a lot of time at the doctor's office getting my hemoglobin levels checked through blood work (which is one of the easiest ways to know if everything is going back to normal) and I had 3 ultrasounds. Turns out I still retained some tissue but my doctor decided to give it a little more time. A couple of weeks later, I went in for a check-up and was informed that everything is fine and things are going back to normal. 1 week later I stopped bleeding. They were planning on doing a D&C but it seemed my body just needed more time to heal itself and luckily I got better. I highly suggest that if they are not checking your hemoglobin levels or suggesting ultrasounds, that you request it immediately or change doctors.
I am very sorry for your loss, I know all too well what you must be going through but I can honestly say, do not lose hope. I know it feels like there is none given the fact that your recovery is no easier but believe me losing hope will not make it any better. Time heals all wounds, do your best to relax and try not to stress too much because that might also be delaying your recovery.
I wish you all the best... good luck.

Has anyone tested your hemoglobin levels (RBC)?  Why not do a D&C?  It may tell them a lot to know your RBC level now as compared to then.  Bless your heart.  This must be an emotional rollacoaster that just won't end.  A normal RBC count is 10-12 for women.  Sometimes I think they take advantage of being nice and sometimes we have to get a little more diligent (firm) in what we expect with our healthcare.  You probably need to say "I need this to stop and I want to know what you are going to do to get this to stop so I can get on with my life and career".  If they suggest antibiotics, say "no, we have tried this and there is no infection and how will antibiotics help me to stop bleeding".  I so wish you the best.  A D&C would probably help you a lot.  Is the dr. and family practice or an OBGYN?

Sounds like you need another opinion , some bloodwork, and an ultrasound to see what is going on.   You may have retained some tissue and need a d&c.  That happened to me with my first m/c, had a d&c and they didnt get everything, had to have another d&c a month later.  I am sorry you are going through this.  Good luck to you.
