the scan showed the baby to be at 4 weeks but im 7 wks pregnant

by aamilah, Dec 01, 2008 09:28AM
i had a scan today because i started spotting 2 days ago.  the baby was in the sac but there was no heartbeat they said that the baby is less than 4 weeks but i kno for certain that im 7 weeks pregnant.  Is it possible that the baby stopped growing and im just waiting for my body to miscarry.  The hospital have asked me to come back in 2 weeks for another scan but the wait is getting all too much for me.  I miscarried in July this year and im praying and hoping that the same doesn't happen again.

I thought that sometimes the babies heart doesn't show up till later. I hope that you aren't miscarrying, but I know the spotting can't be good :( I will be praying for a happy result. Did they not draw blood to check your levels??

I'm sorry for your loss...I hope that this pregnancy doesn't end up the same. I had a missed m/c at 9w3d where my baby stopped growing at 5 weeks...I'm wondering the same as CacyMichelle, have they done any bloodwork to show if your levels are where they should be or at least rising like they should?

they didn't take any bloods apart from when i went to the hospital when i was spotting.  the bloods were only taken to check my Hb levels, because last miscarriage my Hb levels dropped to 6.3.  They said that the blood wasn't coming from the womb.  I just need a positive explanation of why the baby showed up so small on the scan, but i cant seem to find one.

I would talk to your OB about having your levels checked. Hopefully you just miscalculated. I'll keep you in my prayers.

How are you so sure about your dates?  Did you do an opk or something?  I know sometimes people have irregular ovulation dates, so maybe you just ovulated at a different time this month.  That might explain the difference in size.  My dr checks my HCG levels if he cannot find a heart beat to see whether one should be there or not.  I would call and ask if they could check your levels.  Good luck, and keep us posted.

i had the scan and they got it wrong on the scan, when i finally went for the scan 2 weeks later they said the baby was 7 weeks.  whilst i was waiting for the scan i week prior to that i passed to fairly large blood clots with just enough blood to pass the clot.  i thought it would result in another miscarriage but on the scan the baby was there with a HEARTBEAT.  i've been spotting now for nearly 4 weeks and im now 10 weeks pregnant.  my first midwife app is 2mw i will keep u posted. xx

That is fantastic news and proof once again that the dr's aren't always right!
