ttc and complications after miscarriage

by Lilyb, Dec 02, 2008 10:37PM
I was wondering if any of you ladies experienced hair thining problem after a miscarriage? I miscarried last december. Eventhough I got pregnant easily last time, i am having problem getting pregnmant eversince. I also noticed that my hair has started thining after the miscarriage. I noticed the hair loss about 2 months after I miscarried(in feb. 2008) and it is still going on. Please let me know if you experienced any of these complications after miscarriage and what you did to fix the problem. I am currently seeing an RE.

Thanks

I'm sorry about your loss.  I myself haven't had the hair loss problem, but I was talking to my mom the other day and after the birth of my brother she had a hair loss problem for months.  My aunt is a hairdresser and she told my mother to take b vitamins (my mom  couldn't remember which one in particular) that a deficiency after pregnancy (with a live birth OR a m/c) can cause hair loss.  That may not be your case but if it is, it's an easy fix. Good luck!

I also read that hair loss is common in women with pcos.  If you don't have that it's not your problem, obviously.

Thanks for your response mikaleen. I am going to strat taking my vitamins more regularly. this whole situation has made me sooo frustrated. I am going through an emotional roller coaster and now this hair loss thing is a problem added to other. I hope that we both have a good news soon.

Hi Lily,

I had a m/c in October and also think I am loosing hair! I usually notice it after I shower and I feel like tons of hair comes out when I brush it.  I have a 2 year old son and lost more hair than normal after he was born.  I think its our hormones that are drastically changing.  I am now pregnant again and still feel like I loose too much hair, but hope it will end soon. You are actually not supposed to loose much hair when you are pregnant.

Keep taking your prenatal vitamens and eat healthy (vitaments b6 and b12 are good).  Good luck!
