what to think....

So I am 38 days post d&c (aug 23) after being diagnosed with a blighted ovum.  I am still waiting for my period to come. I know your body can take some time to adjust and its normal for it not to return right away.

I know my HCG level was 50 on Aug 31 (down from 5000 pre d&c) and at least under 25 by Sept 8 (negative home pregnancy test).  I have had follow up tests, I had a  vag ultrasound scan that appeared clean... Doctor confirmed that my celvic did close and my uterus did shrink back down.  at the 2nd follow up, they did not do bloodwork again as I was having no symptoms and they had continued to drop, and my scan was clean.

I am sure its just being paranoid but i am starting to worry about being pregnant evne though I know its normal for my period to be delayed at this point.. i havent been trying to conceive or anything at this point but have only been using condoms for protection but I feel the chances of being pregnant again at this point is quite slim. I took a pregnancy test last week, 2 days before what would be my expected earliest return of my period .. it was negative but it was probably too early either way...  I have felt some symptoms lately, been extra tired (but just got back from vacation sooo), my breasts were tender this morning and lightly are now... but still these symptoms could be related to an upcoming visitor...

I dont want to be pregnany right now because i want to take the time to recover...  i really really just want my period to come so I can start to move on...  because until that happens im just in a stage of limbo, not knowing  I dont want to take another pregnancy test because it just feels wasteful and ridiculous at this point...

So thoughts? I realize no one on here is necessary a doctor but in reality, am I just paranoid?  Is worrying about being potentially pregnant making any sense..  and at what point should I really be concerned about my period not returning...

Thanks guy for the reassurance...  I mean I am not too worried about retained products at this point in time because I did have an ultra sound scan that showed my uterus to be clear..  I was further along (about 12 weeks) when I found out so I guess its not surprising that it may be delayed a couple weeks especially since my HCG took some time to drop.. so my body might not have registered the pregnancy as over for 3 weeks after the d&c and i have some signs i might have ovulated recently but I dont know for sure.  Ill probably make an appointment with my doctor if it is not here in 2 weeks.

I had a small orangish spot last week probably Saturday so fingers crossed that my body is getting there.

After my m/c (I didn't need a d&c), it took 5 1/2 weeks (approx. 39 days) for my af to return. Since you've been using condoms, you probably aren't pregnant. Good luck!

After my d&c it took 6 weeks before I got my first AF, but I've heard it taking longer for some poeple.  If you've been using condoms, I wouldn't be worried at this point, especailly since it takes longer for the AF to start again after a d&c.

I had a D&C and at 8 weeks after my doctor started me on progesterone pills and my AF came the day after I took my last pill. If you haven't started after 8w, call your doctor. Sometimes it just takes a while for your body to get back to normal. I'm so sorry you had to go thru it. Take care.

It can take 4-8 weeks for AF to return.  Some people find it takes longer if they still have retained product which happens even after a D&C sometimes.  If it goes on too long and you aren't even spotting Dr can give you an estrogen shot which brings on AF shortly after.  You are stll in the normal range and eventhough it is hard, the best thing to do is to wait and try not to stress about it.   If you want to do more, think about acupuncture which really regulates your hormones or seeing a naturopath.  Take care
