Please help :(

I stopped Remeron 5 days ago, initially taking 30 mg and then my physician brought it down to 15 mg for a week. Last Saturday I stopped it completely, but now I'm going through hell with withdrawals. I weigh 105 lbs, and would like to start taking Lexapro. How many mg should I start with? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

I am having severe depression, tremors, anxiety, nausea and vomiting. I believe I had serotonin syndrome because my psychiatrist decreased my Remeron use and started me on Cymbalta at the same time, and it resulted in very scary results. So I stopped all medication a week ago. I want to take Lexapro but I'm scared that my body can't handle 10 mg. Would it be alright for me to start at 2.5 mg at first?

As you probably know, there are relatively fewer problems with Remeron withdrawal than with other agents (especially paroxetine and venlafaxine) but that knowledge doesn't help you.
What kind of symptoms are you having right now?
The usual therapeutic dose for Lexapro is 10 mg, 7.5 mg might also be therapeutic for some people, but it is almost impossible to find a way to take that dose. Depending on what you are taking it for people sometimes need to go up higher to get a therapeutic effect, I have known folks to go as high as 50 mg a day, although obviously those are both very unusual and situations where you would have to go up to that dose very gradually...
