Concerned its more than fibro but my neuro won't listen

by Kcates65, Mar 15, 2009 12:43PM
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in Dec. 2007 and have pain in all the trigger points.  Started Lyrica and all was fine until 6/28/08.  Driving to work my right arm and leg felt very heavy and right side of face went numb, had a very bad headache on the left side, some drooling and had vsion changes in right eye (felt as though something was blocking my peripheral vision).  I went to a neuro who ordered a CT and MRI of the head which found evidence of an old bleed but no current bleed so he said I had a TIA.  Ever since that time I have had a bad tremor in both hands.  I also continue to have migraine headaches always on my left side and sometimes involve some sort of numbness on my rightside.About 6 months ago I started to develop neuropathy in my feet and legs. Shortly after the neuropathy kicked in I developed another sensation in my feet which is hard to describe.  I couldn't feel my feet and I also would get an off balance sensation.  The best way to describe it is the sensation you get when stepping off of an escalator and you feel like your still moving.   I have problems speaking, I know what I want to say and the wrong word comes out.  I have also developed a problem walking at night. I can't see in the dark.  So I can't feel my feet, my balance is off and I can't see where I'm stepping at night.  This happens indoors as well as outdoors.

About 3 months ago I made a list of all the things going on in my body that were distressing me.  The neuro refused to read it! I feel like something is going on and I can't get anyone to listen to me. Recently I had the sensation with my peripheral vision feeling blocked again and this tremble/twitch in my hands is really bad now. Another thing I have been dealing with for a while has been trouble swallowing.  Sometimes I feel like I'm going to choke. Since my neuro won't listen I came here to get an opinion of what I may be looking at. I feel it has to be more than fibro.

You have a lot of symptoms and they are best interpreted by a doctor who can actually see you and examine you.

You need to see a:

- neurologist
- neuroophthalmologist (eye doctor who specializes in the nerves of the eye)
- neuropsychologist (for memory testing)

They will probably run more tests, possibly:

- MRIs
- Evoked potentials
- spinal tap (lumbar puncture)
- bloodwork
- EMG/NCS (needle and shocking tests of nerves and muscles)
