MS or am I overanalyzing?

by Magdasz, Feb 28, 2009 12:50PM
About a month and two weeks ago I started having numbing sensations in both of my hands, although it started out in my left hand. It primarily was associated with my thumb and my pointer fingers. That pretty much disappeared within a week and a half and then progressed to moderate joint pain in my hands, fingers, wrists, and sometimes right elbow.
Within a a week after having this pain subside, my upper right arm started twitching inside the muscle and eventually produced a small visible tremor.  But the twitches didn't really stop, they spread. My left arm started having spontaneous twitches as well, upper thigh in the muslce, small ones in my calves, and tics in my face (primarily on the left side involving the top cheek area and eyebrow, and the top part of left lip). I want to stress that they stop and start in different areas at different times. I do not have muscle weakness and I am not fatigued. In fact, only one and a half days did my body feel 'heavy.' Now, I am getting dull throbbing pains randomly in my muslces in addition to the random tics and twitches. I also want to stress that these primarily happen at night or when I am at rest. The twitching in my right upper arms yesterday I had when I woke up stopped as soon as I actually got out of bed. They generally stop when I move around.

I am also experiencing brain fog and mild short term memory problems. I have had the brain fog on and off for years though and the short term memory problems I might be able to relate to some antidepressants or mood stabilizing meds I was on, or even ecstasy use in my past (I know it was stupid, but I was really young).

Other symptoms? Connected?
Ringing in ears - had for years...comes & goes...worse now.
Severe anxiety especially regarding health - since I was 20...am now 24
Depression - since 13
Headaches (cluster maybe?) that come and go particularly at night
Brain fog - since about 17
IBS
Ringing in ears - had for a while

I think you need to see a neurologist and psychiatrist (I assume you are given your depression and anxiety). Sometimes the psychiatric medication or antiepileptics help both with mood and with tingling/pain.
