Dr,
My 10 year old has complained in the past of fizzy legs (Numbness), the feeling of dripping water on her leg or arm and then there is nothing there. yesterday she came out of a hot shower and said her stomach was tight and that it always feels this way after a hot shower. My husband was diagnosed with MS in 1998 he also experienced the band around the chest sensation. could this feeling be anything other than what i fear it to be? icant find any other explination for her sensations other that the MS.

Thank You

I agree that you should take your child to a neurologist, but before you start racing with ideas through your head, you shpuld realize that the purpose of seeing a doctor is to evaluate whether your fears are substantiated or not.

could this be anything else? of course the answer is "yes" otherwise why would you need an evaluation for your child.

Uasparrow,
I had an email newsletter arrive today that contained several informative articles about pediatric MS. It said  that about 4% of all MS patients are children - you can access the newsletter through webMD. Drop me a message if you can't figure out the link.

best wishes to you and your family,
Lulu

5% of MS patients are under the age of 18 -- most of those areteenagers and the minority are under the age of 10.

This aside, I understand your fears as a parent, but before you start jumping to conclusions, you should take your child to a neurologist.
