? abt back pain

I am having severe lower back pain.  I think a lot of it is caused by the weakness in my legs and hips.  I use everything above the hips to compensate for the weakness in the hips and below.

I also have pain in my legs.  I guess it is nerve pain because it really doesn't feel like muscle or joint pain.

My question is dx or not do you suffer with this type pain?  I take Lyrica 100mg 3x day and have Darovsets PRN.  It seems to be getting worse.

I  had an MRI of my Lumbar spine and everything below.  There is a name for the below ;0)  it starts with an sc ??? but it won't come to me now.  I googled and can't find it and I have to get to the bank so forgive me for posting like this.

If you do have this type of pain what to you do to get some relief?

Off to the bank I will ck back later,

tery

I have lower back pain also and have also lost the use of legs on more than one occasion.

I have had tons of dx for it from hip disease, disc buldges at L4 & L5 to Transverse Myelitis (sp?). I do have RRMS but don't know if it connects.

There comes a point where I just want relief you know,  so I do stretching and take neurontin (gamma pentin) and aleve and it makes a huge difference.

Sorry you are suffering and I hope that you find relief.

Hugs,
Erin :)

hmmm well I used to have sciatia.. for years my legs would tingle and sometimes the would just "go out" ....now my legs are "numb" so to speek, i dont feel sharp scencations below the hips...finally they have done an mri of the lower back, and they  found that I have a "heriated disc" he could not tell how old it was, he also noted that the was NO nerve involvement there... which doesnt explain my feet.. so what I am getting at is that I think  you are on the right track... I wear a corset when I walk it "stablizes" my hips... however it makes my upper back hurt, but walking better. I also take klonopin it helps.   hope you find some relief......

Qiux you are absolutly right.  That is what was written on the order.

HVAC you were on the trail

Ren, that is what he is looking for...inflamation or pinched nerve.  However, he said to me, If I find a pinched or inflamed nerve that does not explain everything that is wrong with you....understand?

Yes I do.  But a little answer would be nice.

Also, this was going on before the remodel.  I first mentioned it in 08 but doc said first things first...the brain MRI was on his mind.

Last visit I brought it back up.  The remodel may have not helped but it definitely wasn't the cause.  Like you though it may or may not be related to everything else.  I just want some relief besides pain meds.

I am back to wondering if the meds do more evil than good but I do still remember my last experiment and I am not ready to go there yet....lol

take care and live well,

terry

Ps thank goodness for spell ck.  tonight is one of those nights.

Was the term sacrum? This area is where a lot of back pain is. This is my bad area.  I went to PT and learned exercises and have had little trouble since. My whole back used to lock up.

Was the term sciatica? Sciatica is an irritation/inflammation of the nerve that runs down the buttocks and down the back of your leg. It' s usually caused by compression of the nerve root as it leaves the spinal column.

From Mayo Clinic:

Your sciatic nerve runs from your spinal cord to your buttock and hip area and down the back of each leg. This nerve controls many of the muscles in your lower legs and provides feeling to your thighs, legs and feet.

I don't know if this could be related to MS or not. With all the remodeling and physical work you recently did, perhaps you injured your back and therefore the sciatic nerve.

Hope this tidbit helps.
