is it ms ?

i suffer from sciatica since 2009 but it just came back in OCT 2014 when i lifted something at my workplace and injured my back . My pain was so bad that i went to get massage done thinking it would help ,but was my biggest mistake . after 1 week i started getting tingling in my arms and thru whole body . went to my GP she said we need  MRI of brain which came back normal . After that  when results came back normal she said its anxiety . I joined pilates and did some exercise my symptoms where getting better , i was so happy but all of sudden i started getting tingling in my tounge which comes and goes . And left leg tingling is becoming kind of consistent. Is it Starting of Ms or something else .

I want you to take a huge step back and start breathing.........your thoughts are spinning and generating unnecessary fear about a condition you more likely don't have........breath!

Firstly that GP can't of been the sharpest pencil in the box, (1) for arranging a brain MRI when the more common test after a back injury is usually imaging the spine (2) for considering and mentioning MS when MS can't cause symptoms to spread or develop rapidly to all over the body (3) for mentioning MS when a massage made it worse and a chiro made it better (4) for using insensitive language ie dramatic if they even suspected a patient was overly anxious.....i could go on!

Believe it or not but your back pain and leg paresthesia is more likely sciatica, which is more of a symptom than an actual condition, because there are various spinal issues that cause it. It might be worth considering seeing an spinal specialist to find out exactly what's going on with your spine.

The other thing to think about is that the most likely explanation and tongue tingling is most often allergy related eg dental whitening, tooth paste/mouth wash, MSG, medication, colouring/flavouring etc etc. with other things like infection, injury, dental work, anxiety, vitamin deficiency, migraine, thyroid etc with MS a long way down on the list of possible causes.

Regardless of what else is going on, you are mentioning being scared and crying when looking at your boys, this is not something you should ever ignore! Anxiety and depression will make everything seem worse, please make a point of seeing a psych or psychologist to get properly assessed and start treatment if necessary.

Hugs............JJ

Sorry for another post !!! I got MS thoughts from the very first doctor I went to , she said I think you have MS !! N working in disability Iam so scared !! Iam crying most of the time when I look at my little boys . When my MRI came back normal she called me dramatic . I didn't go back to her .I don't understand how a doctor can talk to a patient like that .

Hello and welcome fellow Ozzie,

[when you first posted I was off line holidaying on the Murray, hence the belated welcome from me]

I noticed you didn't mention injuring your back before, and I got say it actually seems quite odd that your GP only arranged for a 'brain' MRI and no spinal related tests eg x-ray, CT, MRI etc, when you already had a pre-existing, long term back related issue (sciatica) and your latest issues or symptom came about from injuring your back and worsened after getting the massage....

I would highly recommend you get MS out of your thoughts, because from what you've mentioned it honestly doesn't sound like MS at all and if its creating anxiety, it's not going to be helping the situation. I also think it would really be in your best interest, to make an appointment with a different GP and get a second opinion on what the problem actually is.

Cheers..........JJ
