4 days of constant spasms in back and abdomen with no luck, please help!

For the past 3 days i have had nonstop spasms from my back or abdomen (they are painful and make my whole torso jolt). the spasms are rhythmic and my whole body is in pain from it. i went to A&E a few days ago when it was so severe that i couldnt walk and could barely talk/breathe and they gave me valium to help weaken the spasms though they never went away completely. my blood tests were all negative. the senior doctor there thought it was a reaction to venlafaxine but i have been on that for over 5 years with no side effects.if i miss a dose i get shaky and dizzy, but not like this. they gave me a follow up appt and that doctor said its related to my anxiety and gave me 10mg of amitriphyline to help stop them but its been 2 days since then and today they are worse than yesterday.

it all started suddenly at midnight 3 nights ago. i just started suddenly shaking, i thought it was a panic attack but i havent had one in five years. my back went rigid and then started spasming uncontrollably. it finally calmed down and then i was left with these "aftershocks", which is these rhythmic spasms in my torso. it felt like a seizure but i was concious the whole time. im so exhausted and my whole body hurts. i wasnt even that stressed. i was disgnosed with dysautonomia a few years back but it doesnt feel like that, but that tells me that my nervous system has never been that great. i was also going to talk to my doctor about chronic fatigue because that has been plaguing me for nearly 10 years. but this is unbearable.

please help, it makes it hard to breathe, sleep, work, function. every time i move it just makes it worse. i just want it to go away.

i know what my anxiety is like and this isnt it, please, please help. i just want my body to relax.

i dont know if its MS, and knowing my luck with diagnoses its probably not, but my symtoms led me here and im just hoping someone out there can help me.

also, so sorry if i posted this multiple times, im on mobile and the spasms dont help when trying to submit something

Hi and welcome,

To be honest i'm not sure why your thinking "spasms from my back or abdomen" would be MS and not any of the more common causes, or even related to the venlafaxine which is known to cause nervous system reactions eg very stiff muscles, muscle cramps, spasms, tremors etc etc etc or your dx of dysautonomia which can cause increased muscle tone, involuntary muscle contractions etc etc.

I genuinely think you need to discuss causation and medical solution options with your treating physicians, your medication has a lot of drug interaction warnings so it's important that what ever you do is medically approved and supported.

Hope that helps a little.......JJ
