A conclusion...I think?

OK I've been at my home in ME for 1 week today and I realized something. Since I've been here I have taken off 10 pounds of weight, My smoking has decreased by 50% (from 3 packs to just over 1 pack per day),  I feel a lot less stressed, and have been having none of my usual panic attacks, even when in crowded places. And yes my mood has been a lot better as well.

Some of this makes sense as I am more isolated from people (my nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile from here and I can only see the very top of his roof over the trees. My house is 500 feet from the road so I don't hear or see any traffic. I have a great little pond outside of my living room window to look at every day, though I wish it had a waterfall to listen to as well. It had been consistently 30 degrees cooler here than my TN home so far this trip. So I'm sure that is helping my MS. In fact my feet that have been numb for many years don't seem to feel as numb as they usually feel. That could just be my imagination though. LOL

So far it has been raining every day since I got here and the forecast has that continuing until Thursday or Friday. So you would thing my mood would be the pits by now from that. I would also think my stress levels would be soaring with all of the problems I have faced in getting here and the things that have been going wrong. The latest one was that the battery for my lawn mower had died over the winter so I needed to get a new one, battery that is not lawn mower. LOL

I had similar effects last summer while up here, but not as great as this time. But I also had my brother and niece here most of the time which had me stressed out a lot. Three people with MS trying to get needed work done does not make for good stress relief. LOL

So my conclusion is that this place agrees with my body and mind and is good for my health. I almost would consider living up here full time, except for the snow in the winter. I have never liked snow and they get something like 103 inches of it each winter here. This would probably negate any positive aspects of being here in the summer. LOL

Hi Dennis, it sounds like Maine definitely agrees with you. It does suck about the isolation/snow amounts in the winter or it would be the perfect spot for you!!

Hopefully your wildlife sightings will be good this year!

I lived in Tennessee for a few years when all my crazy symptoms started.  Moved back home to Maine and all my symptoms ended me up with a neurologist and waiting to get an mri of my spine.

Watch out for ticks this year they are really bad with such a mild winter.  Hopefully we'll get some good dry warm weather soon

Yes I agree with the no more "surprises". They are chewing into my improvements budget for the summer. Yesterday the heat index at my TN home was 103, here it only got up to 64.
