45 is too low for a person that is not really, really athletic. Yes, you would feel very fatigued at that rate because your body and brain are not being adequately oxygenated.
Very well-conditioned athletes are often in that range, because their super-duper strong hearts pump so efficiently that 45bpm is sufficient.
Does your cardiologist know this? If he does know that you get down to 45 bpm does he know that you are symptomatic at that range?
Bradycardia (slow heart rate) can also be from a strong stimulation of the vagal nerve.

Yeah, I don't know what this is all about. You should work it out with your doctor.

Hi Rena,
I'm so glad to hear you have an appt scheduled to talk about your heart because this is the one body part you absolutely can't take for granted!!! My resting pulse varies quite a bit too - and it will drop as low as 45 or so.... I can feel when it's that low because I'm really fatigued feeling. Really confuses me if it is MS fatigue or heart fatigue .....
Keep taking care of yourself!
Lulu
Well, I made an appt. with my gp for next Monday to see about my heart problems. They checked it again today and it was doing wonky things so I guess I better get it checked and the RT advised a Holter Monitor but I will see what the gp says...she may tell me I must be pregnant or some such idiocy but hey...where else do I turn right? hehe
Hey Hon, I really think you need to talk to your doc about this. Something is not right and you shouldn't wait.
I know you aren't too happy with her but you do need to get this checked out okay?
My thoughts are with you always.

Well, my Mom gave me her BP machine to bring home to keep track of my heartrate. I took my heartrate resting this a.m. and it was 64bpm and then after my stretching exercises it was 74. I also tested it manually and came up with the same numbers. When I do my resting bpm at the hospital before exercising it is ALWAYS between 90 and 95 so I don't know what the heck is going on.
Rena
I see this, but I've done all the writing I cna today. My legs won't hold me up, I fell in the basement and hit my head (lightly) and my arms are like lead. I'll give everything a whirl tomorrow.
I can can't explain your paradoxical heart rates. Vagal stimulation or a partial heart block are my only thoughts, but cardioplogy is not my thing. Nor is editing today.
ee you tomoorepow.
Thanks for the input Lulu...however, I didn't feel faint at all during this episode. However, I do have to lie down now whenever I am having blood taken as I do faint at times and this is something new as well. I will probably see if I can get an appointment with my dr. next week but I may wait to see how I do at my exercise program on Tuesday first. Who knows, maybe it was a fluke thing and won't ever happen again but and it may have something to do with me not getting enough sleep lately...I will let you know how it turns out though and thanks for the input...I do appreciate it!
Lots of HUgs,
Rena
Hi Rena,
How good that the puppy slept through the night - you all need your sleep. I'm sorry the adjustment with your big puppy is a bit rough - keep working on the socializing and they should get over the picking on each other.
As for the heart - that's an interesting symptom... I googled it and found a good answer right here on medhelp -- perhaps a vasovagal episode? Did you feel as if you were going to faint as well?

There is a good rundown on vasovagal at http://www.answers.com/topic/vasovagal-syncope. I would definitely talk with your doctor about this.
Be well, Lulu
Hey Sunshine...Well, we had spent an hour listening to a lecture and then they checked the heart rate before we moved to the workout room and I was sitting the whole time. I have been feeling light headed in the last couple of days but just knocked it up to being over-tired due to taking puppy out to pee at all hours of the night and day! hehe I don't know what this is but it is a little scary I have to say and if I find out anything I will let you know. Hope all is well with you honey and I will talk to you soon ok?
Lots of Hugs,
Rena
Rena, I hope your heart is doing ok, and I am wondering something. Were you sitting or standing when they checked your heart rate? Or had you just stood up when they checked it? Do you remember? That is a bit odd, I hope it settles down, that is why they stuck me in the hospital from the ER in June. They never did figure out what is going on, after it happened my legs went out too. Sorry, not very helpful here. :)
I hope that happy puppy and grumpy puppy get along better tomorrow, I missed you.
