A new name for conversion disorder

I believe the medical profession have come up with a new name for CD - medically unexplained symptoms.

My PCP told me that I have these in one breath but then in the next breath he said that since I had some definite neurological signs, I definitely had something neurologically wrong and 'maybe' it was the lesions in my brain causing it.  Heck it could even be 'early' MS.

I must be going completely loopy and imagining my 24/7 tremors, blurry vision and pain when hot and a whole host of other things.

He also saw no point pursuing a diagnosis and wasting money.  I'd like to see him live in my shoes for a few days!!

It will be a VERY long time before I go back to him and I will literally have to be DYING before I do.

I for one would be very happy if my symptoms were in my head because they'd be easily curable.  I'm so angry I could cry at the moment.

I feel for you! I just got the whole "functional neurological disorder" dx from the new neuro the other day. I have clinical symptoms but he has no clinical evidence. So just like all other drs he is unwilling to commit to anything.  Then I looked crazy though bc I cried out of frustration!  I have a dx of hemiplegic migraine,  so not sure how much of my symptoms are from that but it has definitely evoloved and I definitely have "other inexplicable sx's" well good luck...  I KNOW how frustrating it is!

LOL, I think it depends which website you visit as to whether MUS' mean you're mental or whether the medical profession just don't know.

I've calmed down a lot today and talked to my husband and a friend about it.  I've decided that for my family's sake and my own, I have to pursue a diagnosis.  A world renowned researcher on MS and Neurologist visits this country about every three months so will be looking into getting an appointment with him, or at the very least having him review my MRI films.

With a bit of luck he'll just tell me I'm a nutter and can be completely fixed LOL.   If only .............

I'm so not sure what to say..........kind of defies logic to acknowledge you definitely have neurological signs and brain lesions BUT still think there is no point in pursuing a diagnosis, I'd be changing dr's too if mine had that opinion!

HUGS.......JJ

PS I thought "medically unexplained symptoms" was acknowledging the sx's were physical caused and not psychologically?
