ACE Levels???

Hi to of you......

Just got back another round of blood work and this time my ACE is (flagged High) at 78  Range is 15-60
Does anyone have an elevated ACE? Is this seen in MS?

Also, the other test that is flagged is and has me a bit concerned is the EGFR Non-Afri, American (flagged Low)
at >60  range should be 60 and above.  From what I read it could indicate some kind of cancer..Like renal cancel..or something.....Or am I looking up the wrong thing?

Anyhow,if some of you all could please give me some input I would REALLY appreciate it :)
Thanks,
~Tonya

interesting post -- I'm trying to find some answers also.  I have had MS since 1994.  I, too have had low EFGR in the recent past -- no tx./dx.  Now have somewhat elevated A.C.E. w/o dx.  Still in the middle of testing;  now have very swollen feet nearly constantly.  It IS very frustrating to have these things going on without answers, but stay on it -- You are your own best advocate!

Karajo,
Yes, results are Lower than 60....I think like 50
From what I finally could decipher it is something with chronic kidney disease or something that could turn in to it......I will talk to doc tomorrow.

Quix,
Yes, ACE certainly plays a big role in Sarcoidosis, which I was dx w/ back in 1994.
The BIG question for the last 1 1/2 to 2 years is is it the sarcoid messing with me or is it MS?  The reason they put the "Probable MS" on the tableis because of the lesions ans the new one on the c-spine as well as all my CT scans of lungs are clear as well as all x-rays, and other tests.

See, when I was dx w/ sarcoid, I never got treated! They said lets do the wait and see approach because it was in the lymph nodes not lungs and still not lungs.
This is why i have had such a hell of a time of the neuro giving a def yes or no for the MS....because of the sarcoid. Which by the way you can have both and often do. (sarcoid people that is).

it could be Neuro Sarcoid but they will not commit to that either. They know for certain that something is taking my quality of life and running it through the toilet but not giving me meds to help the progression of either one.
Thanks for your  reading of my post.
please give me another thought if you have one. Anybody!

Angiotensin Converter Enzyme - ACE

This test is run to look for one of the MS mimics, Sarcoidosis.  It's not a great test because only a moderated percentage of people with Sarcoidosis has an elevated ACE level.

The GFR refers to the Glomerular Filtration Rate - which is a very good measure of how well the kidneys are filtering the blood.  (the blood is filtered trhough units in the kidneys called glomerules.   "Non-Afri-American" refers to Non-African Americans, who have different norms for this test.

I have no idea what an EFGR is.  If EFGR refers to this, then your doc will want to check out your kidney function.

You results said >60.  I would think that would read "greater than 60"  So was your test results more than 60?

I looked up some stuff for someone else.  This was a really good article that broke down the GFR values and what they mean.

I have no idea what ACE is.  What did your dr. tell you it was?
