Action Tremor??

Hi all, hope you´re having a wonderful weekend :). Just a one quick question, do you have action tremor? If you do, do you remember when it started if it was mild so you did not/hardly see it when you stopped moving?

Because I was hosting a big party, after a week of tile work at home and was very tired and my hands were "overused" :). When I was cooking for the party, I was in a hurry, but I felt like tremor in my hands on and off, but not when I was still. Tell me what you have experienced.

My best to you all,
Dagun

Hmm, that's funny.  Trying to combat increased eye pain, I upped my gabapentin without authorization, from 1200 to 1600 mg/day.  (Had some leftover when our Rx coverage went into mail-order only for "maintenance" drugs.)  Now that you mention it, I do think my tremors might have lessened.  Strange how we so often don't see how to put 2 & 2 together.  Isn't gabapentin an anti-seizure drug to begin with?  Maybe my memory's off again (though it's surprised me this weekend).

I was having bad tremors in both of my hands, I would like also to say arms, but I also had them in my feet.  My Dr. increased my Gabapintin and I have not had the tremors now for a long time....fixed that problem....for now anyway....

Try it..meg

I have tremors in my hands also....My right hand you can see...my left hand/fingers only when I am trying to do something that is precise...

The other day I was making a shell mirror...my fingers were shaking/trembling so bad it was extremely difficult to place shells in the right spaces. The more I tried to be still the worse my fingers would tremor.  I did finally finish the job!  :)

If you look on my profile you will see my shell mirror :)

A much shorter article; I'll guess they're in need of a translator?

Not sure I've ever tried posting an outside link here, but the current efforts are above this line, for your critique. I recall others trying assorted formulae.  Ccpy and paste, then change the dash.dash to vice versa.  No, sorry; instead, drop the dashes and put in just the dots.

Mike, that was a good one.  Reminded me to bring up the issue of fowl language again, hence the bird stuff.

Ohhh good questions, hmmm I know I discovered this paper test a year or  2 before my head first started with a relapse, and my head is a totally different movement to the other tremor. My head moves left to right, its not all the time but starts up somewhere through the day, I suspect its connected to levels of physical fatigue. It seems that as i get more tired, the more physically active i am, the stronger my tremors will get.

My other tremor (even when it was more a constant feeling and only occasionally visible) is 'not' from a specific tremor localised to just my head area (lips, mouth, neck, chin etc.). I dont have tremor type movements in  my facial bits and pieces, well apart from my eyeball (naystagmus) I have numbness and tingling bits, though that's quite different to the rhythmic pattern of a tremor.

I can feel (lol and now see it all the time) a constant rhythmic pattern, the pattern never changes even when it gets stronger, its the exact same pattern repeated over and over and it runs through the entire me 24/7. With the paper test, what you see is the same pattern i constantly feel and if you looked at my hand, the paper i'm holding gently between my lips is moving up and down in the exact same pattern as my hand, so together in tandem.

When i originally discovered the paper test, i was already feeling it all the time but the tremor only became visible when i got tired or hot or had another relapse. There was a time, gosh it would have been at least a couple of years of it coming and going (relapses) before it stayed for good but it was also always visual when it came back, so i both felt and saw it.

lol i'm not sure i've answered your questions, hope i did in my round-about way lol its taken me all day just to write this lol i need a nap!

Cheers..........JJ

Hmmm, seems to me it just kind of came on suddenly, it's always noticable to others when it's happening, although it does increase or decrease in severity, I'm not sure why.

Hey PD, cursive writing...does that involve bad words? Lol. Unfortunately I'm not much of a typist either :)

Mike, do you remember how it was when it started, was it mild at first? So that you more felt it than saw it?

JJ, I´m having a shiver (on and off) above my lip on the right side for like a month now. So my "ticket" could shake a bit lol. But do you mean that your lips were shaky then or was it the whole head? And does/did it shake a little all the time then or just when tired?

My best to you all,
Dagun

Back when my tremor was only occasionally visible, I accidentally discovered a way to make the invisible but I could 'feel' tremor, actually become visible. Quix told me that what i did, was a basic test that dr's actually do but at the time i didn't know that lol making the invisible, visible was an exciting discovery, an OMG moment lol

One day, to keep a ticket (lottery, raffle, receipt ?) protected from the wet things I was carrying in my hands, I placed the edge of the ticket in my mouth, just between my lips for safe keeping. As i looked down to pick up everything else, I saw the ticket was rippling and moving. It was strangely moving exactly the same as the rippling tremor, that I usually could only feel but not see, it was a bit of a shock to finally see it. ta da! the invisible became visible lol

Funny how such a little trick was such a big deal to me, not being able to show what I was experiencing was like it didn't exist, lol so making it visible was validating, simply fantastic lol

Cheers.........JJ

Wife says they're no longer teaching cursive writing to kids in many public schools.  Keyboards are taking the place of that language art.

I get shakey hands, sometimes worse than other times. If I am tired, or if I have exerted myself the hand shaking gets quite severe and very noticable, but even when wide awake and relaxed I sometimes (often) get the shakes when trying to preform any task that requires some level of dexterity.

I never write anymore, I have to print if I want to have any chance of reading what I write.

Most of my symptoms are left sided, but the shaking is in both hands.

I don't remember ever discussing this issue with my doc or my neuro, I just assume it's all part of the MS game.

Take care
Mike

Thank you all :), it seems like tremors can be so very different (like everything else in MS) between persons. I also have the fingers hitting the computer keyboard when I´m tired. And JJ thank you for remembering how it was a "feeling" at first, when I read that, it was a "aha" moment lol.

Because sometimes I can´t help it to feel like I am crazy with all this going on. When it is still so mild, then I´m always second guessing if it was real.

PastorDan, I´m not English and I don´t remember what kind of bird Hummingbird is, but they must be nice?? But you obviously have a lot of chaking going on :).

My best to you all,

I've had a couple different tremor types long before I ever thought I might have MS.

My hand used to shake when I would hold something still in the air.  Whenever I would sit the item down, OR when I would focus my thoughts on holding it still, it would hold still.  This was frequent, but not predictably so.  That problem seems to be gone, but that could be.because I just don't hold things the way I once.did, since developing tendinitis in the forearm -- wow, a dozen years ago or more.

My most.common & lingering jiggle is usually the head shake, which can take several forms.  Most often, it's a very slight left-right rotation, but it can be a left-right tilt.  When it is, look out, because it can move down as far as the hips, depending how I am posed at the time.  Very unpredictable.

I've had twitching fingers, a vibrating left eyelid, and a ring finger that once visibly buzzed like a hummingbird.

Hey there,

I have a constant (fine) tremor running through me all the time, the only time it stops is if 'I' am fully supported from head to toe, lol i've become a bobble head. It doesnt stay 'fine' though, it gets stronger the more active, the more fatigued, the hotter (etc) that I get lol its a pain in the butt when it gets stronger and more visible, lol for obvious reasons.

Though It didn't use to be that way, when it began it was more that i could 'feel' it and the only time it became visible was during these funny odd blocks of time, just when my other things went pair shape too (relapses). As time moved on the tremor started happening at other times too, interfering with my hobbies and work, then it just stopped going away like it use to do. lol It developed and it was not quite the same.

I had also started 'occasionally' over shooting my target or jerk a bit when i reached for something, i'd fumble, drop things and knock things over, this was really odd for me to do because i'd never been clumsy but honestly it wasn't happening often enough to think it was becoming a problem or anything, just another odd in a growing list of odd lol.

After my big bang in 09, tremor became my normal but again its developed and it was only around 2 years ago that my head started its left right movement, which never lets up but its only when i'm fatigued or just tired at the end of the day that it starts getting harder to function around, then i need my head supported. lol it sure doesn't help me see things with already having double vision. Its also tiring when you never stop moving and ads to my over all package lol

Cheers........JJ

I get something similar to that, sometimes when I get up from the chair or have been standing a long time, my leg will do that and I just have to wait for it to stop.  Never decided if it was MS related or not, it was too intermittent to remember to ask the neuro about.

Other than that, sometimes my ring finger on my right hand will do that when it is "hovering" over the computer but I don't want to use it yet, it seems to have a mind of its own and makes the wrong selections!

Hope this helps
